So, I failed miserably. Good news, Home Depot had plastidip for $5.98. And I was able to paint my silver mustache black with no problems. Getting the front grill without taking the bumper off was no problem at all. I did my research in advance on where the 4 screws are.
The problem ironically was with the fog surrounds. I decided that I simply wanted to plastidip the entire housing. I used 350 grit sanding sponge to scuff the entire housing (both the silver part and the plastic part). I sprayed both housings generously, must have done about 5 coats. They looked great. Put them back on a little before they were completely dry and admired my work. Today (1 day later), I noticed that some of the plastidip came out a little blotchy. Instead of doing the entire thing over or taking them off and putting on an even coat, I took the lazy route, and decided to spray tire-wet on them and used a microfiber towel to wipe it around a bit (didn't want them too wet looking). but I must have rubbed too hard and the many layers I put on must have not had enough time to dry.
Yep, crap came off. So I decided to take the housings off, and used a brillo pad and some elbow grease to take all of it off. My fingers have no more finger prints on them. And my arms hurt. My wife laughed at me. Priceless . Now it's raining outside, so I'll have to wait for another day to get it right. Word of advice. LET IT DRY THOROUGHLY!!! 1 DAY ISN'T ENOUGH IF YOU DO TOO MANY COATS!
