While other benefits are fine, I noticed most catch-can or AOS manufacturers advertise their product mostly as a must-have to avoid detonation and ringland failure on Subarus... which is a scary thing, but so far I haven't seen any data backed evidence of blow-by causing knock (on stock or moderately powered engines) and the cans preventing that (measured objectively).

It's a bit odd comparing an EJ25 to supercars and the technologies empoyed there to reach double+ power levels we get in an STI.

I think that's because some like to prey on people's fears. It's any easy selling tactic.

You haven't seen data, because there is none. Anecdotal observations at best, but that does not prove cause and effect. The theories on octane play out, and an AOS that functions well does reduce that. Connecting the dots with the other benefits is up to each individual.
