You are rigth, I have done my car and my brother's STi. Is not difficult if you have all the tools and the patient. Allow you 6 hours for first time instalation from begining to the end. It just take time all the wiring routing through firewall/behind dash/engine bay/ etc.
yes quite hard and with the sun and the heat jejje saludos

Nice writeup! Looks very easy to install. The wires that you used to daisy chain, were those provided with the Defis or did you have to make them?
This writeup makes me want to get a set. Did you get them for 201 or tuning factory? I wonder how much cheaper do they sell them for because everyone says they sell them for a good price.
Oh just to let you know, disconnecting our battery does not reset our ECU.

Thanks for the wonderful writeup.

You're wrong and plenty of us have datalogs to prove it. Look at what happens to your ignition advance multiplier (for example) when you disconnect the battery for a while.

But have you tried it? don't believe everything you read.
True. Ive read it on some Scoobypedia site and Ive heard a tech say it. Once I disconnected my battery for a whole day and my ODO A/B trip meter saved? Dont know? If Im wrong my bad, no big deal.

Cant wait till the rest of the writeup is finished. Still trying to decide on Oil Pres and Temp or Oil Pres and EGT.

All the kit for the "daisy" chain is included in the package. Its also the recommended method of install - they also showcase it as a unique feature of the DEFI setup.

The oil temp install should be posted this weekend.

Re: DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics

This is a great write up brother. You posted it at the perfect time too. I slapped in the pod and gauges yesterday as well as hooked up the boost guage. This morning I hooked up my EGT and was surprised at how simple it was. Just waiting for the shops to open up to get some Teflon tape to finish off the oil pressure. Thanks again for the post.
BTW quick question. On my old Boost guage at idle it read at 20 inHg. Now Im readin more like 21-22 on the defi's. The old guage was a generic but is this normal for you guys? Mods are Turbo XS TBE, Perrin FMIC, TXS intake, and APS BOV. Thanks.

Re: DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics

the stock oil pressure sensor that you removed for the defi gauge will removing having any ill effect on the car? I have a oil filter sandwitch thing and i would rather use the spot that you used i just want to make sure remocing that sensor will not cause any problems

Removing the stock sensor will cause absolutely no problems whatsoever.

As far as the defi boost gauge goes compared to my old stocker - I'm in the same boat as you. I think because there is much less expandable rubber hose used, you get much more accurate readings.

I also notice this when I spool - the DEFI indicates boost much faster, while the OEM one was much more progressive.

Re: DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics

Ok so I just tossed in the oil pressure guage. Obviously it was the hardest one. Especially since I was impatient and waited only 45 mins for the car to cool down.... Anywho the biggest ***** was takin the old sensor off. My car has over 50k miles on it so some things are a little harder to get off. The stock sensor is sometin like a 23 or 24 mm wrench. I didn't have one so I used a pair of vice grips. Took a hot min to take off cuz you can only move maybe 1/4 inch at a time. The Defi sensor is 17mm so that didnt take too long. Just tape the over the old sensor wire and tie it off. Car runs fine. Toss the old sensor into ur spare parts bin like ole boy said. All in all install with a 5 min test drive took an hour 15 min. Guage works well reading 40 psi at idle at normal operating temp. Thanks again for helpin me start this tedious project and props to Defi for makin it rather simple.

Re: DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics

how does removing the old oil pressure sensor not have any effect? Its obviously there for something. I would imagine it would throw a CEL or something if its reading 0PSI

Re: DEFI BF install -Step by step with pics

as I have mentioned NUMEROUS times - there is no ill effect from removing the stock oil pressure sensor - No light, no CEL, NOTHING.

My theory is that the stock switch is held open by oil pressure, then closes when you hit 0 psi. Well, if you remove the sensor, there's nothing to close the switch now and activate the light. Hence, no problems.

what is a gallery plug
There are two of them. The is one under the alternator, as I showed in the writeup, used by the oil pressure sensor. There is a second under the intercooler, but in stock form, its closed. You need to buy the piece from subaru, to make it an open plug to accept a sensor, such as oil temperature.
