So I despise my factory vinyl slippery seats. I’m looking for a factory upgrade option and was wondering if anyone has does a seat conversion to the new WRX TR Recaro’s? Or if anyone has any guidance when it comes to this upgrade.

I’m still not 100% if these will fit, size or bracket wise. Or how the power seat function may work. Or airbags.

Thanks for any help

I've seen people do the jdm recaros. But i haven't seen anyone do va or vb recaros in a gr so far. I'm sure you could get brackets made so long as there's enough room for them to fit. You'd probably need to do some wiring to get the power adjust to work. I wouldn't want to mess with the airbags personally. That would be enough reason for me to never try this. You'd probably be better off picking up some production recaros with the right brackets and calling it a day. The tr seats are pretty rare and i doubt you'd save any money compared to aftermarket seats.

I'm sure they would be easier to find. But i was saying picking up some aftermarket Recaros, or another brand, and getting the proper brackets would almost certainly be easier and probably no more expensive. I haven't seen anyone do VA seats in a GR yet either. But it's probably been done.

There's a place not far from me, PMP Auto | Your GOTO Source for Used OEM Subaru Parts, that i'm pretty sure got a tr in within the last month or two. Might be worth it to reach out to them. They'd should at least have VA seats in stock.

I don’t have any experience with Subaru, but I will caution in general with a seat swap to take some time to really sit in the seats you’re interested in and make sure they’re a good fit for you.

I had Corbeau A4s in my C5. The C5 community loved those seats, I met all the dimensions for them in terms of my size. I hated every second I had them in the car and nearly sold the car because of them. I took a small bath getting back into stock seats, at least initially. I had to buy five seats to make a good set.

The OEM Recaros will likely have fewer drawbacks, but it is something to think about.

I second this. I too dont have any personal experience with subaru and aftermarket seats or recaros, I can offer some insight. While it may sound awesome to have some of these fancy recaro/bucket seats in your car, it can be absolute hell to live with on a daily driver.

Some of the cars I work on have these fancy factory carbon bucket seats. Let me tell you, while it looks amazing and sounds cool and all....its absolutely horrible to get in and out of everytime. Get in to fast, and you'll smash your nuts. We call them the ball busters. Get in at the wrong angle and expect to destroy your thigh or tail bone. Getting out of them is fun too. Literally have to pull and push yourself out of them to get out the car. I will say that they are in fact awesome when taking turns really fast and driving super aggressive. Not sure how much of that kind of seat is going to be used to its benificial potential in a daily driver.

While I dont think the subaru seats will be anywhere near as harsh and unforgiving as what I stated above, I still think its worth taking some seat time in the chairs you want to get.

I’m gonna take a look at possibly putting some VA seats in my sons 11 GV.
