I have a set of 6.5" Alpine Type-R components and they were amazing on my last car, I really would like to install them in the front when I buy my STI. Will they fit?

Also, what is a good size for the rear speakers? I would like to go with Alpine. 4.0" good?

Your homework assignment. Find out the mounting depth of your Alpine's then read this thread. In case you don't have it, here's the installation manual.

Lots of creative stuff happening in rear. None of it my car, as I've removed my rear speakers and spent the money for better front components. If you must do rear speakers, do some searching in this forum. You'll find everything you need. I hope you are planning on replacing the HU as well. Otherwise changing the speakers won't really be worthwhile.

I have a Pioneer HU, but I think I'm gonna be going with a dual din. Maybe the Pioneer AVIC D3.

I am running JL XRs, and the mounting depth is 2.81", and they BARELY fit in the doors. Had to remove the rubber coating on the back of the magnets to get them to fit. I think yours will fit, but man will it be close. Not sure how much spacer you are going to need.

Reading your user manual it sounds as if the speakers come with a spacer kit. If you still have it, you can give it a shot. If not, you can use one of the spacer kits in the other thread as I mentioned. It will be close and may require some custome work but it can be done. Using washers to set back the window track is one trick. The other one is dremelling off the end of the screw that goes through the plastic piece at the bottem of the window.

But basically I could make it work...thanks.

I think I have the same fronts, can't recall at the moment. But, I used the spacer kit and tweeter mounting kit from iaperformance. For the rears I have 6.5" coaxials and trimmed the door to fit them using the how to on the site. Worked and sounds great!
