Your fog light cover and wiper blades aren't going to be covered under warranty, your brake pads and hatch lifters should be though. You received a booklet when you bought your car that explains the limitations of your warranty. Typically nothing that is designed to wear out and be replaced(brakes,tires,belts and wipers) are not covered for any length of time.

In the US, wiper blades are absolutely covered up to 36,000 miles, and are brakes (pads and rotors). My wiper blades were replaced numerous times, and my brake pads (F&R) were replaced under warranty.

The Canadian coverage may be different, however.

I don't think even if there was a rock chip that hit it and it cracked later, is it my fault? The glass itself seemed heat cycled with fatigued and that's what caused the crack.

seems like a real stretch, if it's due to debris it's definitely not covered under warranty. I wouldn't expect this one under warranty considering the likelihood of a rock hitting it and causing a crack.

Just get your warranty terms and read what is covered and bring it with you, should easily settle any questions rather easily. I'm not 100% but I recall that wipers may possibly be covered. The hatch strut should be covered too, never heard of these being wear items, I'd consider them part of the 3 year bumper to bumper. Wear items should all be defined in the warranty terms.

 

Ok for sure I want the hatch struts replaced, to help them not waste time I can even install it myself, not like it's hard to take out or put in.

Yeah I know everyone thinks glass crack is due to impact but if you google up impact analysis on glass, you'll see that usually there would be a point of impact and stress lines originating from that point outwards. If they claim this 2mm glass is crack by a surface scratch or pitting, then by that theory my windshield should be shattered to 50000 pieces since I have about 50000 pits due to road debris, yet my windshield has no crack.

 

Your fog lights if they show no signs of cracking from impact should be replaced. All Subaru accessories I believe follow the 3yr 36k warranty.

You will probably have to haggle the dealer to replace them but they should do it if there is no signs of it getting hit by debris.

Wipers/brakes/hatch struts should follow the 36k warranty as well.

 

I didn't know could replace wipers... that's crazy.. I guess I'll get new ones before my 3 year ends. I have some reflex type ones for winters right now but my stock ones are dying.

 

I had my brake pads replaced under warranty at about 26k miles. They first tried to tell me that they weren't covered under warranty and that I had to pay some obscene amount of money for them. I told them "hell no go check with your manager" and sure enough the pads were covered. You shouldn't have a problem getting the rear hatch struts fixed though. You might be SOL about the foglight though...

 

No I'll fight foglight, if not then I'll insurance it. Not buying another damn pair of these things.

 

You can replace just the fog light itself for less than $100 dollars. Then buy covers for them so you don't have the problem again.

I'm trying to get a couple things warranty, and I went to one dealership and they gave me some information that some things like wear (brakes, wipers etc) are only 12months 20000km

I thought the least length is 3 years 60000km?

Anyways I don't think my rear hatch struts are "wear" items anyways, they aren't holding up as well and seem to be failing.

The other thing is the crack on my foglight lens glass. There's no sign of any "chip" or shattered impact, the crack is just a single curve in the middle of the glass. No point of impact.

In the US, The Brakes, Wipers and Clutch linings are covered for 3years/36k miles.

Some Dealerships are STUPID!!! I just had a problem with one of them. I need to update that post because I finally got my problem fix by a good/honest dealership.

You can buy just the single fog housing from your dealership for less than $100. You could try subarugenuineparts.com too.

Unless the struts fail to hold the hatch open you may have a difficult time with that too..

This is why its important to bribe your service writer with beer and become friends with them.
