I found a guy selling a VIS Carbon Fiber hood for a good deal but i can get a Seibon hood for a good deal also so i am in the middle of a pickle. Just wondering the quality of each and what your guys advice would be. Also dumb question but if i get this VIS hood and do a Seibon trunk would the carbon fiber look different??? Because they are different makers. Kinda noob question. Thanks guys.

Not a noob question, from what I know VIS sucks and they deteriorate horridly / they use a gel coat. Seibon uses a clear coat, but should be recleared to make it more durable... And concerning mixing the two brands, yes, there is a VERY high probability that the weave pattern in the carbon fiber will be different. Anymore questions? I'd rather be informative and answer questions than have people be supplied with misinformation. Btw, I suggest going with Seibon, and if you have to cash, investing in their dry carbon.. It is VERY expensive though, as in around the 1000's for a hood instead of 100's

Ok cool thanks for all the help DGK. I know VIS and Seibon are good carbon fiber makers but if i am going to buy i want the good stuff. lol Couple more questions. Whats good to wax carbon fiber?? How much should you wax every month?? Also i am thinking about getting a hood and just running it durning the summer and popping the stocker back on for the winter. And how long do their clear coats last??? Thanks

Be very careful closing your hood.. My seibon hood cracked right in the middle from slight pressure closing the hood. Also, My Seibon had many flaws right from brand new, and more showed up after a year or so of driving.. Never bolted up quite right either.. Had to modify the oem hood hinges to fit the hood..

First hood came damaged, second hood was ok but seems to be a factory blem..

I got sick of looking at all the cracks forming in the carbon fiber so I ground them all out and fixed it with fiberglass and body filler. Hood is now painted to match the car.

If you use the car for a daily driver get ready to really take care of that hood. Maybe mine was just a blem though.. I did get a killer deal on some group buy a long time ago for like $450 shipped new (RC Style hood with the rally inverted hood scoop in front of the oem scoop)

I dont care for the carbon look personally. I liked the RC style hood and it was cheaper than an OEM replacement for my hail damaged hood that the insurance company paid for so whatever
