I'm thinking about selling my other car. The STI would be my commute car and i do about 50 miles a day. i'm not to to worried about gas mileage i do about 25 mpg all highway. Does anyone use their STI as their commute car? How is it holding up?

I commuted 70 miles a day with it. 94,000 miles and no problem. I just recently got a beater to keep some miles off the STi. You will have no problems.

WOW...thats some crazy mileage on your car! 500 miles per work week. I would do about 300 per work week. and i would do about 100 miles avg on the weekend. So lets make a toast to my new commute car. haha

I use my STI as a commute car 40 miles a day. Can't afford to have multiple cars with individual purposes. STi lets me have my cake and eat it too. I would gouge my eye balls out if I had to drive a Corolla every day.

This is weird to me, I feel I can't afford to NOT have another car. I feel it's cheaper to own a second car just because of the cost of wearable parts, gas, mileage, etc. I bought a crappy beater for $1300 and it just goes

I commuted 180 miles round trip for almost a year on my sti, no one problem.

Cars that are driven longer per trip hold up better than a car that is driven 5 miles to work. Most people think the opposite is true, but its worse when a car is driven repeatedly for short distances without it reaching normal operating temperatures.

I drive 40 miles a day. 20 of which are in stop and go traffic.

I'm also 6'4"

My next car will be equipped with DSG, and better seats.

As far as the car goes, it's solid as a rock. I've been Stage 2+ for 39,000 miles.

I also Daily Drive my car under all weather conditions, Snow/rain etc. I do about 40 miles a day round trip. I agree the STI makes for a great DD but you also gotta be ready for all the stone chips your gonna get on the bumper and the hood.

62000 miles on my 05 sti

I commuted 30 miles a day for a year, then 70 miles a day for 9 months, and now 20 miles a day.

Its a fine commuter car. Im mildly modded, running meth injection and falken azenis while I was commuting :)

Seats are the worst part.

I commute my STi 2-3 days a week a whole 2 miles to my work! lol

Actually since its such a short trip I usually take a long way on purpose to help the car warm up more. If I'm running late I just take my POS old Integra that I don't really care about.

My commute is 15 miles one way of stop&go, clutching 1st gear the entire way. Lucky for me, I get to carpool with the GF, so we take her saturn. Those would be completely wasted miles in the STI anyway (no fun what-so-ever). So my STI does all the other driving instead!

The GF and I PLAN it so that all the boring/traffic kind of driving is done in the saturn, and all the fun nights/weekend driving is done in the STI :)

^^^ Totally agree on this. I used to travel 50-60 mile per day for 4 months and it got to the point that I couldn't stand driving it anymore day in and day out.

It was hard for me to get in and out of the Sparco full bucket seat, very stiff coilovers. In Utah, there are many rain gutters on the road so my lowered STi was a total pain to get in and out of streets plus front Cusco lip does not help either. Also, I had to fill up every 3 days or so, $$$.

I have got a Audi 90 Quattro(soon to upgrade to an A4 1.8T) as a DD and that make a world of difference. Now, the STi is only for the tracks !!! Life is wonderful now.

Otherwise, the Subaru is solid and no problems what so ever.

I commuted 75 miles a day to work for over a year and my car held up great. I averaged about 300 miles out of a tank. I ran the diff open the whole commute which supposedly helps gas mileage on long trips with a constant rpm.

Just a little over 50 miles a day here. Stage 2 protuned and the car runs fine. The only thing that kills me is the gas. I actually like it. I used to commute 10 miles a day and it was boring, felt like the car wasn't used to its potential.

used to do 107 one way, bought the sti in april and already at 15k+ miles on it. used to average from 22-24 mpg but gas was killing me filling up damn near every other day. but not i've been "relocated" and only drive 3 miles to work. funny part is i don't even drive the STI anymore, i drive my RS... :D

81 miles RT four days a week in the mountains and I can't imagine a better car for crappy conditions. Been stg 2 for almost 25K miles too. I love my commute.
