To prevent the risk of opening "that can of worms", I would like to start by saying I'm not looking for opinions on which oil to choose over another because the answers of our peers are smattered all over the forum. So, having said that, searching the forums and the interwebz has yielded little in the way of useable data pertaining to STis specifically about the Royal Purple High Performace Street synthetic oil. I'm just curious if anyone out there has UOAs from Blackstone for this stuff? The UOAs listed in the thread here don't specify which type of RP was tested. Also, if anyone has seen anything concrete on this Synerlec additive package that is supposed to be more robust than the current API standards allow? My STi will never qualify for warranty repairs in it's current state so I'm not overly concerned with the API stamp of approval, mostly just curious if anyone has put this stuff to the test?!

Im running royal purps hps. screw api, thats all for emission bs. I found that the api approved oils have less Zinc DialkylDithiophosphate content. (aka ZDDP) This is an anti wear additive that is needed in high performance applications. A api approved oil will have a zinc content of around 800 ppm. Rp HPS has around 1200 ppm. And if you look into race oils those will have 2000+ ppm. Rp sells it well on their site well with a few test videos. I've spent countless hours searching and reading info about this additive in different oils. Do some research for yourself and you'll see.
Maybe I'm a sucker but I'm sold on this idea.

Where are you guys getting this stuff? On-line?
From what I've read, Synerlec is a sulfurized ester additive.

Zinc 1774
Phosphorus 1347
Moly 189
Calcium 3626

Just to reiterate for others that this is Royal Purple High Performance Street and is a completely different animal than the girly man Resource Conserving 5W-30/10W-30.

Unforunately the first link doesnt work but Im going to look for it further and read up. As far as the 1200ppm zinc figure goes, yes that came from the web. And as we all know the web is 100% accurate all of the time and no mis-information ever makes its way to our screens . Which is precisely why I brought it here, and 1774 zinc sounds better than 1200 anyway :D

Running that oil in my sti as we speak, heard no bad reviews in regards to this, a friend shop owner with 600+Hp 350z, my friend with 500hp 370z and another friend with 400hp 350z are all running this oil without any problems!
No idea about the actual content of the oil but im going based on industry and peer reviews.

No, I meant where are you buying the oil?

Here's the virgin analysis link again:

Blackstone is actually known for understating zinc so that might explain where the 1200 ppm's comes from. I pointed out to someone on the Outback forum that their RT6 levels were low and Blackstone re-tested their sample and all of the additive levels came back 10-20% higher. Brad Penn even comments about BS's zinc levels on their web site:
Penn Grade 1 High Performance Oil

API oils can have higher levels of ZDDP. A 30 weight that is not Resource Conserving will usually have higher levels (German Castrol 0W-30, Mobil1 High Mileage, Valvoline MaxLife Full Synth 5W-30). And 40 weights will have higher levels since they are not Resource Conserving. Royal Purple basically tells you that their regular API SN/ILSAC GF5 5W-30 will shear to a 20 weight.

Increased fuel efficiency
A low coefficient of friction results in optimized fuel efficiency (the fuel economy of our 5W-30 meets the fuel economy requirements of a 5W-20 oil)

For those seeking enhanced performance in vehicles not under warranty, we recommend our HPS Series of high performance street motor oils with our proprietary Synerlec additive technology.

Thx for reposting the link . I wonder why Blackstone understates zinc? I would think that is an ingredient many people focus on for a high performance oil.

My local O'Reilly stocks the regular stuff, and stated they would order the HPS or any other RP product I needed if they didnt have it. Ive also seen HPS available from some of the vendors on this forum, as well as the RP filters if someone wanted those as well.
