Yes, that’s a Star Wars reference

Looks like the rumors were true! An electric STI, most likely a hatchback, and a hybrid based on the VB

I’m personally super excited for the sports EV market, especially after seeing Ken Block (RIP) tear up Vegas in that electric Audi S1. Plus with that L-EVin project that just came out with a manual gearbox, there’s hope for us yet

What do you guys think?

I wonder if the gas-variant will use an EJ motor or will it have a new block and design. I am sure people would like to try the electric-STI but it sounds lack luster. Electric vehicles just don't give the same ummff as a combustible engine. There is no shake, no feel, just very muted.

The Levin will never be adopted, no company is willing to take risks anymore, especially car companies. Every single car looks identical nowadays because its too high risk to sell a flop. The 0.000001% of people that the Levin is targeted for would rather just buy a used gas car from the 90s/00s

hybrid with a manual and 600 HP would be great.
EV with no gears, sounds, smells, vibrations = pass. EVs have their place but will always be Lift or Uber cars to me. Transportation, convenience, tech but no soul. Not really how I think of STi.

The EV and hybrid stuff may sound cool and all but its going to be a whole new ball game for enthusiast. Working on them isnt going to be what it used to be either. Keep in mind lots of manufactures are now locking ECU's from the factory so tuning cars is only getting harder and more complicated. Also, owning an EV/hybrid may not be so fun 10 years later when it comes time for repairs. Technology changes and becomes dated rather quickly.

Honestly, I wish they would just avoide the whole thing and find a way to put a turbo inline 6 engine in there.

I predict the future of enthusiast cars will be running NA cars with everything stripped from them and ignoring the check engine light. There's already people doing this, cutting off roofs and anything that doesn't make the car move forward.

The day of enjoying a factory car is over. Its like trying to modify an iPhone. Everything is locked down, restricted, and illegal. True freedom will come to those who find it.

so reading some of your posts... not too much enthusiasm lol.
i was also a naysayer. i love driving my STI (she's in the shop getting a southbend clutch installed and trans rebuild at the moment).
the STI has an amazing driving experience, like steering feedback/cornering and the shifting is a blast (i use the engine to manage my speed, not so much a brake rider)
anyhow... my other car is a Dodge Daytona Charger EV stage 2. go test drive one.
it's so fast and accelerates so hard it make your eyes bleed. corners almost as nicely as the STI. has an electrical glitch occasionally and goes black when parked, wont turn on. (if you get one ALWAYS carry a Noco with you). but in a straight race it would eat my STI for lunch. (beats a hellcat in 1/4 mile, and it's all wheel drive...)
but go drive one and report back lol.
