^^^ Actually, he handed me the printout of the parameter values from the ECU, and like I said, he said everything was OK and up to date.:confused::confused:

OK, here's a question: My boost gauge is Tee'd in at the bypass valve on the front of the intercooler. So, I assume on my boost gauge I'm seeing the pressure in the intercooler.

But, I don't know where the ECU is measuring boost pressure. Is it possible that the intercooler boost pressure is somewhat higher than in the throttle body or elsewhere in the intake manifold, or wherever the ECU measures boost?

So, maybe it's expected that intercooler pressure will read somewhat higher than what the ECU reads? Could that account for my 17 PSI rather than 15 PSI?
Thanks for any replies or suggestions!

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I just installed my boost gauge and noticed that im getting 16+ psi on a Maddad gauge. I'm 100% positive that my engine/ecu is stock since the former owner is a very good friend of mine.

EDIT:

Well I noticed that i'm definitely getting 16 psi today (100-degree day, dont know how much that matters) and i'm getting it in at least 1st-3rd gear. I was under the impression that 1st,2nd should be LOWER than the 14.5 peak, at maybe only 13.5. Should I be worried? What should I check?

Well, I'm briefly resurrecting this thread just in case someone else has this problem. What I finally did was I got a brass rod at the hardware store, same diameter as the pill. Then I measured the hole diameter in my pill. Then I cut off a short section of the brass rod to make a new pill. I drilled the new pill just a little larger in diameter compared to my original pill. That took my max boost down to ~15 PSI.

While I don't remember the diameter of the original hole in the pill, the hole diameter I drilled in the new pill was 0.051". It did compensate for whatever was causing the 17 PSI initially. As of today it's still running at 15 PSI max. And that's my story ;).
