Installing Fog Lights on 04 STi

I'm planning on putting foglights on my 04 STi and there are several things I've been researching but I can't seem to find conclusive answers to any of them. I'm going to be using these bezels to hold the lights in the bumper: https://www.subarugenuineparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_48&products_id=763

1) I've read that you do and don't need a JDM bumper to use these bezels and/or the OEM foglights. Is this true? If it is, is there a way to modify the USDM bumper to fit this setup? I'm fairly handy and have the tools to do so if necessary.

2) Do you have to use the JDM or USDM bulbs with these bezels or is there another type/brand that will fit as well? If there are other compatible sets I want to compare them to the ones I know will fit and make sure I get what I want.

3) How do you install the lights themselves and connect them to a switch? Also, what parts/wiring is required for this, if any? A link to a write-up on this would be excellent. I've looked around and can't find much on the subject.

Thanks in advance :)

1. For the USDM fogs, you can use the USDM bumper beam with no mods. In fact, it takes an hour to install or less.

2. Mine came with standard bulbs, i think like H4's (research that). They are all the same bulbs, just different housings. Once you figure out which bulb it is, you can get any bulb that would fit in that casing. So if you want more white get a higher Kelvin bulb (6000K, etc.. if you want to match you the OEM lights, you will need a 5300K bulb).

3. They will give you install instructions with the kit (at least mine did from Subaru). Everything has been pre-wired for this already. Additionally, they give you an OEM fog light switch that you insert into the panel.

It's a piece of cake installing this.

it took me about 20 minutes to install my foglights.

You don't need a JDM bumper beam.. as these are the USDM Fog Lights and they are Pre-Wired.

the directions are fairly simple. To sum it up in a few easy steps...

Inside the whole foglight kid box, you get the Actualy foglights, a fuse, and the foglight switch. When you take off your STi bumper covers, feel around, and there should be a wire. That wire has blue tape on it. Connect that wire to the back of the foglight, and screw in the foglight in the deisgnated holes in the bumper cutout.

do the same for the other side. Then when you go the interior, pop open the lowe dashboard... it takes 3 screws and a clip to get it off. After you did that, put the little black fuse in the designated spot... i dont remember which one exactly but inside the kit there is a pic... and then connect the foglight wire to the foglight switch for inside the car. Put the dashboard back together and your good to go!
