I know this doesn't sound right for most of you but just finished installing my TBE w/CAI. Love the power but way too much louder inside the cabin.

I'm running Perrin all the way. The sound is not bad from the outside but above 65 MPH, the sound is too loud for my taste.

Anything I can do beside reurning to stock ?

Dynamat ???

Are you for-freaking-serious?

I don't normally give people a hard time on here, I try to be as helpful as possible... but c'mon man, you bought a PERFORMANCE vehicle and Subaru at that. You're not going to get quiet from an STI. Should of done some research. Maybe you should of bought a BMW or something.

Now to be nice... Just enjoy the rumble, the power it's pushing out. That's the beauty of our cars. I love the sound of my car, I don't even have a muffler. I just don't think you're used to it, give it some time, a couple months; you can then decide what you want to do then.

What are you 18 years old? Performance on the street doesn't have anything to do with how loud your exhaust is. Maybe you should have bought a Honda? Only an idiot drives on the street without a muffler thinking it's really going to make a difference besides impressing kids while cruising meets and high schools.

To the O.P. just run the stock cat back until you upgrade the turbo then consider whether the increase in sound is worth the trade off for power.

Never did I tell him to run without a muffler. I only said that's what i did.

And never did I say that performance has anything to do with how loud a car is. Now you're just putting words in my mouth. I'm not the first nor the last STI to do that, so don't attack me like I am.

If he would have done some research he would have known about the noise our cars make with an aftermarket exhaust.

I think the second half of my first post is a tad bit of information to help him out.

I did my research but until you test it yourself, you can`t really tell how loud a system is. Having said that, My name is not The Stig and I don`t live on a rece track.

I enjoy my STI like I enjoy my CLK 63 AMG for other reason. What bugs me is that I can`t even have a hands free conversation on my car due to the exhaust sound.

If you read my post correctly, I am asking how can I make my car quieter, not if you agree with me on what I am trying to acheive.

So what I want to know is is there a way to reduce noise inside the car and if so what have you suggestibng, Dynamat will not reduce the exhaust sound in the cabin and they do not claim they can do so.

Since I have posted this message on the ICE section and not on the exhaust or performance section, I ddidn`t assume I had to clarify my post.

Go with stock Cat back and your aftermarket DP. Will most likely be no performance difference and will be quiet. I had my protune wiith the Cobb DP and stock Cat back for a year before I ended up getting my greddy cat back. My car can be loud and annoying at times even though the EVOII is a pretty quiet exhaust.

Why am I not surprised a GR owner posted this...

Pick up a MadDad whisper, should make your station wagon almost as quiet as stock. MadDad Whisper 08+ STi Catback

I would personally not use Dynamat to deaden outside sound. My 05 had full Dynamat and it didn't really make much of a difference with blocking out road/exhaust noise.

You're so cool man. I just don't know what do with myself. You refer me to being a kid to make yourself feel better, that's fine.

Well, he was talking about his exhaust, so I brought up the cat-back;that's the point I was bringing up you ****. I think I know quite a bit on what these cars need, can do, and what are capable of. you're just a smart *** prick.

It's funny. When I seen threads like this in the past, worse has happened. NASIOC is a hell of a lot worse. Maybe if you'd stop being a soft ***** for a minute and let him be a big boy and handle his thread himself you or I wouldn't be wasting our time.

So I'm a little mean and forward about stuff, big deal. Does that hurt your feelings enough to where you have to attack me? Maybe my personality is based on who I am and what I've done. don't be such a women, and let the OP respond as he needs to, to me. I'm sure he can handle it without a bodyguard.
