Ive had my sti for about a month now and cant decide on what to start on in terms of mods, id like some opinion on some essentials?

That depends. Are you keeping your warranty?

Personally I'll be debadging the trunk, putting on expel paint protection for the full front part of the car, then window tint, then hard wiring in a radar detector, and the same with new front/rear dash cams. Those aren't so much mods but things I'm buying for the car.

I like the Varis carbon fiber front spoiler with the side skirts and a rear fog/brake light. I also want the front C-light to act as the turn signal so I can black out the amber area. I also want the carbon fiber side fender badges. All these things won't touch the warranty, but are going to cost a few dollars.

Seems like most people start with a cold air intake and then get a protune with an access port. That right there should provide noticeable increase in power. Then people start to mess around with exhaust from downpipe to tips, but then you've got sound to consider with power. But that is a whole different thread.

Depending on keeping the warranty,

Either go state 2 with a protune or do some visual mods....catback is always safe but depends on your preferences but it is really just a noise maker.

Accessport and cold air intake. You'll love the car 10 fold. Power, sound and responsiveness [emoji106]. Then fog lights and turn signal bulbs. Clean up the front end a bit. JDM grill and fog light bezels made my car look so much better

Thanks for the feedback everyone, im gonna think on this over the weekend! Im already ordered the olm led license plate bulbs, and red overlays for the tail light, im thinking nameless axle back muffler delete, or rally armout mudflaps, or the f1 led rear fog from subie speed!, i only want one for now since i dont want to dish out tons of money into the car just yet!

Yea, as mentioned, you're going to have to decide if you want your warranty intact. Modifying parts to increase performance may deny you of warranty claims should things break down.

It's "Pay To Play" kind of thing.

Or just stick to mess with cosmetics, as you're already doing.

AOS

rally armor flaps, JDM extended arm rest, disconnect the DLR, get better high beam bulbs, get better fog bulbs, get the subiespeed blinker tail light mode get all new LED's for that, new LEDS in the entire inside cab, TapTurn so you can run LEDs for blinkers etc, delete the stupid sound tube, exhaust, window tint, motor mounts, trans mount, shifter bushings, pitch stop, rear diff mount bushings, replace all the worm clamps with nice T-bolt clamps, hella horns, rims, springs, radiator shroud, TPT lava blanket, better heat shield, F1 or JDM rear fog, 2 nice buckets with 2 grit guard catch-quality soap-microfiber rags-microfiber hand glove washer thing-etc

Front tow hitch licence plate mount (unless you drilled the bumper) (if your state needs a front plate), Front OEM licence plate hole plugs, quality licence plate covers with caps front and back

and you get to keep your warranty!

well is the OP going to keep the warranty or not?

I got all my stuff at subispeed

AOS, exhaust, replace all the worm clamps with nice T-bolt clamps, rims, springs, radiator shroud

Only things on my list I havent done

lots of stuff not on that list but more of a waste of money the OP probably dosnt want to waste :p

Get a tpt lava blanket and an new heat shield. Actually get a lil quicker spool

I think the but dyno performance mod the lava blanket and heat shield gives better results.

Also unless you really want the sound get some good motor and trans mounts and a good bitch stop and shifter bushings. Changes the entire car

125-135 while moving YIKES. I'm with Guzie....I see about +/- 2 degrees of ambient temp when driving. Once stopped I shoot up over 100. Nothing wrapped, just ceramic coated headers, COBB heat shield and COBB intake AND box. I also run E85 which might lead to lower engine temps as well. She runs soooo much better at lower temps

Thanks guzie. I will start wrap up this weekend..Will see. Been pop-up the hood everytime when i'm back home from work.

and Yes, STI perform much better with low temp. Got to read more info from joejoe69 that he posted and figure it out how it work on my CAI and prevent Heat Soak.

I use this stuff

Carbon Fiber Heat Shield | Heatshield Products

Its a little pricey but its amazing!! lined the inside of my heat shield with it

Amazon.com: Heatshield Products 781002 0.025" Thick x 24" x 23" Lava Heat Shield Mat (With Heavy Duty Adhesive): Automotive

make sure to get the heavy duty stuff

ya I have a TPT lava blanket, Perrin heat shield w/ the lava mat lined on the inside. Might be over kill sure... but it has to help

Also the stuff looks really cool too, has a kind of carbon fiber looking weave that isnt carbon fiber or whatever

I was a noob as well so i started with tint and a corsa exhaust and AP. then i went with expel from the entire front and side rockers. i got red/black subaru emblems for the front and back.

recently i ordered jdm front grill, jdm rear fog light, cobb intake with airbox, front lip, morimoto fogs and drl harness, side fender blinkers and rear tail light turn signal mod. can't wait to install when they're all in to see how different/better the car will be look and pull

next step is to go stage 2 and then get come RCE yellows to lower and SPC rear control arms...

this damn car makes me very poor....but happy as hell

Been thinking of a turbo blanket for awhile now...not sure if i really need it. i did notice some slugishness on sunday and tuesday this week cuz of heat soak...but in NJ, it's not balls hot all the time...i want to try and protect my baby...is a turbo blanket worth the extra cash?

A blanket will also help spool time. Hot gases move faster and with more energy. This causes your turbo to spool much faster.

I love the idea of balance with my cars. I like to cover all bases with subtle mods. My suggestion is to do a little something for aesthetics, handling and performance. To each his own with what you choose.
I went with:
Eibach Springs
Cobb AP
Jdm grille /Jdm armrest
Made the car feel like "mine"...personalized and balanced. Next wave will include intake and possibly debadge.
