We don't visit the forums much here so we wanted to come on and clear a few things up...
First in now way are the harness "messed up" or incorrectly manufactured, the problem lies within the simple relay, many of the Pre -- June 2011 harness were made to work with the 4 pin relays, when these relays would go bad customers would use the 5 pin relays, then the problems started occurring, battery drain being the most prominent.. We have tried our hardest to keep up with Hella and there changing packaging but it is a constant battle so here is the solution: All Subimods Hella harnesses will ship with the correct 5 pin relay as of now to avoid any confusion.

Any customers who feel there battery drain is attributed to our harness or have any other questions please contact us via EMAIL/PHONE

No problems with my harness that I installed in February, on my 2012 WRX Limited. Of course I did NOT use this harness, I used a harness from another company, which uses the Hella factory relay. The car often sits for 2 or 3 days w/o being driven.

What harness did you use?

I just installed my Hella Supertones yesterday in my wife's Legacy GT. I made my own harness or should I say, wired it myself. The relay is not a magical box. All it does is pull power directly from the battery when it is triggered to do so from the steering wheel mounted horn switch rather than using the OEM wire harness to supply directly to the horns. Save your money and buy 5 dollars worth of wire and connectors. It took me longer to get the grill out than it did to wire them up.

Here's one in the factory location. I mounted the other one symmetrically on the drivers side.

Like zerocool, I also created my own harness. Used thicker gauge wire and I've never had a battery problem. Car even sat the entire month of December when I was out of country and she fired right back up without issue.

This is the root cause to why my battery has been dying over the past year :( I've sent subi mods an email. Lets hope they can help make things right after the Chargespeed CF kit ordeal.

If you daily drive...you probably will not really notice. Even with the 5 pin...mine still seem to die. I just took the harness off. I haven't revisited getting them to work because I've been too busy. However...I plan to tackle it in the upcoming weeks.

Let us know your results!
