I don't seem to see a big difference myself. I have found that no matter what you do, if both the block and the heads are not perfectly flat and the finish not to factory recommendations, you will have problems. The spray only delays the inevitable.

 

I agree on your comment, but I think most shops typically just send out customer heads to be leveled and decked and clean the mating shortblock surfaces as best they can.

 

When I did my engine build, I just used stock gaskets with ARP head studs. No issues. Ive heard of people using copper spray, but I dont know anyone personally that has. I have about 4500 miles on my build now with no leaks from the head gasket. I did have the heads decked and new gaskets as well.

However I do appear to have a leak from the water pump I will have to diagnose one of these weekends.

how much boost are you running? I don' see a problem with stock dry gaskets for anything less than 23 lbs
