well my dumb *** bought a 6262 and Perrins rotated kit only to find out that the turbo had a 2.5" outlet vs the 3'' i needed to mate up to the Perrin DP. So I traded her for a new GTX3076r for $411 more:( Anyhow, I figured it would be better around Button Willow than a huge 6262 but less bonerrific on the why. My goal is 500whp on meth with a closed deck block and forged internals..... The PTE was gorgeous but after reading so many horror stories I wasnt displeased to send her back before plopping the motor back in. So here I am a month without the car and waiting for a few more weeks to complete here.

Any GTX owners out there unhappy with your turbo? I hear that the x3076r isnt quite the old 35r... Maybe a HTA35r over the X3076?

There was an Evo around here with a 6262 that lasted 2000 miles before he he turbo issues.

I've heard tons of good things about the GTX's. I think the peace of mind will bring some happiness that the 6262 might not have.

Do what you'd like.. not what "your boy" thinks. You want to enjoy the car, not impress everyone.

Actually impressing people helps me enjoy my car a bit more. I built my block up to handle quite a bit and I know it's a toss up between drivability and top end but I figured I would throw it out there for debate. I just wish I could get 450whp on meth with the x3076.. If that's possible I'm sold. If not who cares about lag I want power!!!! ;)

6262 on high boost and meth.

yea do what you want, not what other want you to do. GTX3076 with a .82 exhaust with some meth will be a good setup with supporting mods. Solid mid range power with top end. You can ge the GT35r but you will be losing the nice powerband of the GTX3076.82 for a few morew whp up top. Face it we dont have hondas that rev to 10K I think it would be better to have a wide powerband and give up a few whp at 6500k. But thats just me. I vette is gonna have a the displacement over you from rolls, tell him to run you from a dig and see what happens ;) i have a stock turbo and can take out my friends procharged vette from a dig. Just ran him on a big radial with a hot day and with a massive burnout on the streets and he got me by 2 and i have a stock turbo.

Lol... Smoke a few vettes.. You are looking for 500whp.. Please explain what kinda of a Vette you are going after? Any Vette that is worth beating will be most probably faster than you!! It takes a 750whp EVO to even keep up with my heads n cam C6 Z06.

The issue with STIs are that it's got very short gears... I have to shift once by the time you shift into the third.. My Z06 with 345 MTs goes to 71 in 1st gear!! It will be very tough call to beat vettes with less power!

I hear what your saying JDMUSCLE, but w/ a 500whp sti thats a very low 11sec car, if not high 10 car w/ good tires... thats vette territory, so i would venture to say that he will beat on ALOT of Vettes, however that is by NO MEANS a Vette w/ the same amount of aftermarket goods under the hood.... Granted these new 505hp ZO6s are some BAMFs and i wish my sti ran 11.3s w/ a paperfilter and stock mufflers and tires. Just didnt have that kinda coin to drop....

hmmm... you are probably correct about the STI being a very low 11sec car at the track. See most people that drive their vettes at the track are not doing justice to what the car can actually run on a quarter. Me for example...

I ran a 10.97@132 with my car... some others have run 10.73 with a stock Z06 w/drag radials. So me with the additional power did not put the power down and run what it was suppose to... simply cause it is a RWD car that is a bit hard to launch and driver errors are magnified. Another member on the Z06 forums had run a 9.98@141 at my power level.

So when you are running a vette on the street and from a roll....Driver error can be almost eliminated since it is roll... it will be totally different story on the street.

I am not by any means discouraging you or your effort. I love all sorts of cars and I have three distinctively different cars (94 Supra turbo, 06 Z06 and a 11 STI) and I appreciate anything that is fast. It is just that when you are pitching against a Vette/Viper/GTRs... an EVO/STI will need to be a 100% car with an excellent driver to beat them... Especially if the Vette/Vipers are equipped with good tires.

Not hateing on vette's, it's actually going to be my next car.. Just saying my boy Dwyane smoked two Vetts with his stock motor 35r on Q16. One C5 Z06 with No2 and one C6 procharger. The C6 procharged Vette gave him a better run.. I just want a nice setup that will get me the best all around power that will give a few of my future V8 drivers a run for thier money... I know a Z06 with head work is no joke..

Q16 is good ****. I actually have 5 gallons for sale if anyone in MD area is looking.

You can make damn good power on it.

#16 ·
Definitely the GTX3076. New technology. Flows more than the old 35r. 65lb/min vs 63lb/min.

yeah beatin the new Cobra would be great. My boy Jeremy has a new Snake but he cant drive ;) I hope that whatever option I go with that I can get his a$$ too. I was just told that the distributor also sells the HTA35r so since I'm willing to pay the gtx30r price, I'll exclude the 35r and post this as ..... GTX30r vs HTA35r. what'll it be boys. I know I gotta be pissing some people off now!! lol

well boy's it's official.... I picked up the HTA3586 .82ar.. I knew alot of ppl are gonna be like what the "F" but after long debate and stress and decided get the turbo that makes the most sense. I know I'm not done modding her and after i do my head work i think I would have been at the GTX30r's limit. Unfortunately I dont have nor would I want to spend, 21 hundred on a snail for the X35r.. I'll post #'s asap. Keep the thread rolling for those who are stuck between the same options. I'll be on Stock heads and meth.
If anyone out there snags that GTX30r post up some shizzy for us.
