I've been in the market for a turbo upgrade for a while now. After evaluating many different options(gt30r, pe1820, aps sr50, etc.) I'm fairly sure I want to go with the Green. After searching nasioc/i-club/this forum I decided before I throw down the money to get one I wanted to hear other people's opinions on their experiences with the green. How much power are you guys putting down compared to baseline runs? How's your lag? Did you have any fitment issues? I know there's a plethora of "what turbo should i get" threads but I had to add my own just for good measure. =)

I had an interesting conversation with Forced Performance today. I am interested in the exact same turbo, and wanted to see how much dinero it would cost to install and tune, so I gave them a call. They were very nice, and excited to hear that I was thinking of the green.

I asked them if new injectors were necessary, and they said that they had seen the stock injectors run 17-18 psi on the fpgreen, which equates to about 350 whp. From everything that I had heard, the injectors are maxed out. He said that is not true, that the stock injectors are 550 cc and capable. However, if you want to run 22-25 psi, then new 850 cc injectors are needed.

Also, I inquired about the install...he said it takes about 4.5 hours to install it, and it costs $75/hour. That sounded standard to me, not unreasonable.

Unfortunately, Forced Performance does not have a all-wheel drive dyno, but they said they will tune it at FIS for me at $120/hour. I have the UTEC, and a tune would definitely be needed.

Overall, I figured that if I am going to go with that turbo, I will go ahead and get the BIG injectors to make the BIG power. I would hate to have to get a re-tune when I did change the injectors.

Hope this helps...I know its not about the turbo directly, but I know it is always nice to have specifics. I don't know when I will get this, because I have to leave the car there for several days, and I am about 6 hours away. Later.

Rota SDR for 05?

You can not get to 350 whp on pump fuel with the stock injectors no but you certainly can with race fuel. The stock units are indeed 480cc. At around 310-320 WHP you will be running 100% duty cycle on 93 octane. The Green can lay down some great power though. 370-380 whp on 93 octane is possible with header and FMIC.

There has been a lot of threads started about the FP green, and I have responded to most of them with a lot of detail. All I can tell you is, with a 2.0L and FP green, even with 3800rpm full boost @ only 15psi untuned, the turbo is absolutely crazy. With a 2.5L on the STi you will love it. As for numbers the turbo is "capabable" of almost 500whp, but realistically with your typical supporting mods (upgraded injectors, pump, etc) you won't be able to run higher than 22psi on pump gas, and 22psi will give you around 350-400whp. I know that on my previous car my 650's were maxed out with a walbro 255 pump @20psi (91 octane), so try to get 850-880's if you have engine management.

Well with dsms, an upgraded intake manifold and some hks 272 cams, and of course very finely tuned car would be able to hit 400whp. In fact, this guy with a gsx got 477whp on 93 octane.... now with an agp rs49 (still a 50 trim based turbo) he set a record of 503whp w/ 93 octane. This is out of a 2.0L 4g63T, he has a built motor though.

From what I read on Nasioc with cars with the Turbo XS car with a Green, Fuel Upgrades & Utec hit about 350awhp on 93 pump gas - 21psi.

Not too bad..... If you look closely at the Dyno chart, it spools very close to stock.

Dan (Guru) - Can you confirm - Does the FP Green Spool up close to the stock STI turbo?

RE: Re: RE: Re: Info on the APS D/R 725

I believe the old ones are oil cooled only and the new ones are oil and (optionally?) water cooled. Make sure to buy it straight from Forced Performance. Lots of "clone"(read: fake) greens floating around. I know b/c I got hit by one.

I believe you have that backwards. The new ones are manufactured by FP with oil cooling only. I believe NORCAL STi was one of the people who have gotten the last of the oil/water cooled Greens from FP through Garrett at World One. Garrett was told by FP that they will not be manufacturing oil/water cooled Greens for a while. Just how long, who knows.

Dan at Godspeed(Guru) can confirm this as well.

If you want something that is oil/water cooled, you either have to start searching for older Greens or get the DB SuperZilla.

Super Street Feb. issue has a nice article on Harman Motive Spec III witch uses a green. They claim 340 whp on 91 octane 391 on 100 octane. The kit uses Turbo XS FMI and both utec and ECUTEK for engine management.

I have that Superstreet read it last night. Sachin how do you know if you have a fake or the original? I just purchased one, I have no reason to believe its a fake, but I just want to make sure...pics are here: http://collegerides.zftp.com

Yea be careful about the fakes, I almost got pulled into this myself  ... I believe FP said that they have their name/logo/or something located on the turbo of the real ones.

can u get more whp out of an AVO 500...i know the FP GREEN is the same as the AVO 450....

i meant power out puts are identical (450 vs GREEN). i have seen a green put 420whp on 93 octane...so your saying an avo500 should put more correct

All supporting mods and tuning being equal, yes an AVO 500 should make more power than a green. However, in the real world we never get equal testing conditions. That's why there are so many differences of opinion.

Supra Replacement?

my mate has an 04 Sti with the following mods:
ECUTEK 3
Full turbo back exhaust
Walbro fuel pump
Perrin Front Mount intercooler kit
FP GREEN 20g
Custom air intake
* pleae note that the engine is a standard 2.0 ltr Australian spec STi

On a dyno-dynamics dyno it made close to 230kw atw

i recently drove it down the 1/4 and pulled a best time of 11.9 @ 119 mph. running high boost map - i think 26 psi.

car drove very smoothly as well.

visit www.perth-wrx.com - look for Tino if u want the time slips n details
