Well,

I used to own a 2005 E46 M3 competition package,

it came from factory with 19x9.5 wheels and 255s in the rear...

However I do think the ones in these pictures look a bit stretched....

I remember this car. It was one of the few cars to come with stretched tires from the factory. I looked at the pictures again. It’s definitely a stretched look and the wheel lip is exposed.

I’m considering the Rpf1s’ in this configuration, but maybe in either 265/35/18 or 255/40/18. Do you think I’ll run into problems in either of the two tire sizes? Also just out of curiosity, do you guys know if Rpf1s’ in a 17x9.5 +38mm configuration would fit under a ‘18+ without spacers or fender mods?

{Enkei Rpf1 - 18x9.5 +38} I put a 5mm spacer on as a test fit and still does NOT fit on my '17 STi. Ordered the Perrin 7mm hub centric spacer and am going to test it when it comes in. My biggest gripe is all the research I've done, no one has ever mentioned anything about the difference between 4 pot and 6 pot sizes/bulkiness prior to getting the wheels. on top of that I can't find a half decent aftermarket wheel fitment calculator/visualizer that accounts for year/make/model/wheel brands/tires to get accurate fit. I swear last year when I was shopping wheels I found a great link to an interactive suspension/wheel guide and now its just gone. Anyways I'll share my results once I get the spacers :/

The 7mm spacers won’t work. You need 8mm to clear 4 pots for 18x9.5+38 rpf1s
Penguin garage has spacers that are designed for the rpf1 hub on the wheel side and Subaru hub on the hub side. You’ll also need extended wheel studs to have enough thread engagement to secure the wheels.

not sure where you researched but if you’d ever come across t3hclap you’d have known. He’s a big wheel fitment guy and the owner of penguin garage.

And I’d add, I would not run anything smaller than a 265/35/18 on an 18x9.5 wheel. 255’s and smaller will look stretched. I’m running 275/35/18’s on mine.

Funny this thread bumps as I saw a pic of a WRX on that exact wheel setup and stock suspension height and I thought it looked decent. I've always liked these wheels, but have an aversion to spacers. I know they're not all bad, but they're not for me, so if you need them to run this wheel, I guess I'll have to cross it off.

Tire stretch is an interesting animal, certainly. On my C5 I had BBS LMs which were 17 x 9 up front. I ran a 245/45-17 (stock size) Michelin ZP runflat and they looked great. When those aged out I ran a Firestone Indy 500 in the same size and they looked a bit stretched, which was a bit annoying. Interesting enough, those wheels were specified by BBS for that specific car with the stock tire size.

Obviously this is a bit apples to oranges with a different wheel / tire size, but just a comment brand can play a bit of a role in how a tire looks. I remember back when the original Dunlop Z1 Star Specs were the hotness they were rumored to run very wide for their published size.

I mean. Spacers up front aren’t bad if they are done right. Plenty of cars run spacers on track and have zero issues ever.
Also I’m 99% sure you need no spacer if you have 6 pots and I’m 99% sure you can run these with stoptech trophy BBK with no spacers as well.

I’ve run spacers on my car for probably 7-8 years now. Idk what the fuss is about with them. I’ve experienced zero negatives with them.

@Karlot man, the cheap Chinese junk pacers on eBay, etc gave all of the high quality spacers a bad name. Perrin, MachV etc, use the right materials, high quality studs and are hubcentric. They are basically an “extension” of the wheel itself and are 1000% safe!

Thank you, this just saved me another headache! And as far as the wheel studs go, it doesn’t look like those spacers come with any that I can see. I’m trying to keep a low profile so when I get wheel studs & lugs, I don’t want them sticking out super long out of the wheel.. any lengths you recommend for lug nuts? Do I NEED to have open ended lug nuts or can I use the standard oem size closed end lugs? I’d rather use closed end if possible
