Do aftermarket headlights get rid of SRH?

Ya, SRH uses elaborate and expensive motors to control the lights in relation to your steering inputs, far beyond what you get from a typical headlight.
That's not something you are going to find in a 500$ aftermarket set, as most people don't know what that is or want to pay for it.
If someone were to come up with a set that included it, you'd be paying for OEM Subaru headlight motors, as aftermarket units would likely fail or have compatibility issues.
I wouldn't be surprised if that meant 2000-3000$+ a set.
I don't have first hand experience, but maybe try reaching out to these guys: circuitdemon.com
They look like they have good experience customizing headlights in all kinds of ways.
In your particular case, I wouldn't be surprised if you have to send them your lights and have a week of down time while they open yours up and customize them, since they probably don't want to stock SRH units.
Alternatively, if you have a good hand, you could pick up some butyl rubber and black plastic paint and do it yourself in a weekend.

And, I bet those motors are also tied into the auto leveling system, where there is a sensor connected to the rear driver's side lower control arm to compensate for weight changes towards the back...passenger's and or junk in the trunk...🤪
My other car has this! When the little motor got damaged during a coilover install, instead of buying a new arm for the motor or a new motor entirely, I just programmed out the auto-levelling function to turn off the light on the dash  With all these new LED headlights out on the road now, I'm not terribly concerned with people catching a glimpse of my lowbeams over a bump!

I just got a ‘21 STI and am wondering the same thing lol. I like a lot of the aftermarket options but I don’t want to give up the OEM quality.

I just found out that our OEM headlights have the LEDs built into the light and don’t use a bulb. I was at subifest this past weekend and was trying to upgrade the bulb at the diode dynamics booth and was told there wasn’t an actual bulb. No wonder I couldn’t find the bulb spec online lol.

Depending on what you are trying to do, if you want to retain the factory levelling motors, you could either split the headlights yourself, or pay someone like Circuit Demon to do it for you.
If you can afford the down-time, you could ship them your lights and tell them what you want and they'll split, install, and ship them back.

The headlights I just purchased from them, they take OEMassive headlights, split them, paint the reflectors, install aftermarket projectors and lenses, and OEM sti bulbs and ballasts and black-out the housings.
Then they seal them back up and ship them like that.
That cost me like 800$ all said and done.

Unfortunately you aren't going to find any options that retain the motors, as selling headlights with motors at OEM-level build quality quickly raises the price from 300-500 a set, to 2000-3000 a set and there aren't many buyers for that.

Makes sense. I was going through this same situation with my Focus ST but the aftermarket headlights on for the ST were mostly trash. It seems like there are more quality options for the Subie.

$800 is solid, did that include the headlights or was that just for the custom work? How’s the quality? You got any pics?

800(ish) including the headlights, plus tax and ship.
i think the oemassive lights are halogen and 400$ but im paying to have them upgraded with quality parts and oem xenon wiring, so they are plug and play because i currently have oem xenons.
Pay attention to my build thread because they will be arriving next week!
Should ship out by this friday 😬

Dope! I’ll defiantly check ‘em out. What year is your STI?

I’m still confused about the LED headlight stuff. I’m used to HID Xenon tech.

Mine is a 2012, so there are a few more options cause it's a GR.
From a quick glance, looks like they don't sell complete sets for your car, but they do sell c-light mods, projector mods, led mods, demon eyes, halo rings, housing mods, etc. so you absolutely could reach out to them with what you want to accomplish and see what that might cost you!
Again, if you want to maintain the SRH, either a DIY or having them do it for you is really your only option in that regard.

How? Teach me! Please and thank you.

The reprogramming part. I wanna disable mine and not have a light/message on the dash.
My other car is not a Subaru, and it was done using a programmer that simulates the computer that the dealership has.
If it can be done it would require a trip to the dealership or to a shop that has the Subaru programming tool.
