Anyone have problem with the center console glove box won't close? it keeps popping up when i close it or hit a bump.

Anyone here know if there is a way to fix it? or the warranty will cover it.
Thanks in advance!

Mine would rattle whenever I hit a bump - I solved it by taking some foam weatherstrip tape and puting down a strip between the lid and the center console. The pressure there should keep the locking mechanism tighter together

i had the same problem on my wrx, i found the problem to be the latch on the lid not catching on the notch on the console. i ended up adjusting the latch and lid by just pressing and pushing them so it would fit better. not sure if that makes sense but it worked, i guess the lid just got misaligned.

I took it to the dealer.. And all they did was realign it.. So they've told me.. And now it's fixed.. But doesn't have an obvious click when I close the lid. At least it doesn't pop open and hit my elbow when I drive.

I dont mean to bring up a dead thread, but I was just having this same issue. If you disassemble the center console lid and remove the metal hinge from the car you will see its in a U shape. If you use a rag to pad your hands and just slighty squeez that to bend the U, it causes the lid to sit just a hair further back in the console and the latch will catch alot better. You will actually get an audible click when closing the lid. If anyone needs pictures describing what I mean just ask!

You will Start by removing these screws. And just a FYI all of the screw you will remove during this process are not identical. You may want to keep them organized so you don't mix them up!

Then remove this screw.

Then from the back seat remove this access plate on the end of the console and remove this screw. Then remove this entire end of the console.

Then remove these 3 screws to remove the hinge from the car.

Here is a top view of the hinge and the direction you should squeeze it.

And Finally a side view showing the U shape i was talking about. You will apply pressure at the highlighted lines and you will push in the direction of the arrows. You will only want to bend this slightly, maybe an 1/8" to start. Put it back together and as long as you bent it enough (but not too much) your lid should latch securely and you should even get that audible sound when it latches. Hope this was detailed enough for ya! Let me know if you have any other questions!

I had the same problem so I removed the rear panel of the console, revealing the hinges, sprayed some WD40 on it, followed by some good Ole gun oil and now it closes like a dream and stays shut. Thought this might help.

If you take the leather top off and loosen the 3 screws that hold the cover to the hinge it makes it a little better. Note: the third screw is behind the inside panel.
Just to make sure it won't happen again I removed the center console and installed 1/4" neodymium magnets on the inside of the console and on the cover. Once I take it apart again I'll post some pics
Works like a charm

I solved mine popping open all the time by heating the latch with a heat gun until I could push on it and bend it slightly downwards/towards where it latches. Let it cool, gave it a try and worked perfect. Worth taking the time to remove the plastic cover that covers the underside of the armrest and latch so you don't accidentally melt the cover while heating the latch.
