I am going with an aftermarket clutch kit in my car. I really like the ACT Streetlite because it isn't that much lighter than stock. I drive a Legacy SpecB, it utilizes the same 6MT as the STI, but it has a slightly larger diameter flywheel for greater comfort. I was wondering if anybody has had issues with the ACT streetlite flywheel throwing a CEL. It weighs 15 lbs compared to the usual 10-13 for other LWFWs.

the pcm monitors the speed of the engine to determine if and when a misfire is occurring, if when cyl x is supposed to fire and in stead it slows down a tiny bit,
with a real lightweight flywheel sometimes it will not have enough inertia at idle or deceleration or when ever to maintain speed and can set a false misfire code.

We sell a good amount of ACT Subru Streetlite flywheels and only time I have ever heard of this issue was on some (not all cars), is when a light weight pulley is installed.

If you have a stock pulley on the car, the flywheel is not so light that it wont be able to dampen out the vibrations that the knock sensor picks up. This is something that happens more often with flywheels that are in the 10lb range.
