Somebody snag these Driver Side seats - he's selling em for 960$ (before 139$ shipping) lightly used ERGOMED's w/ Side Air Bag, Electronic Height Control, Heated/Ventilated and Air Bladder for Adjustable Lumbar Support. I'm not sure how much he charges for re-upholstering but it should look pretty good with Black Leather Bolsters, Alcantara Inserts, Red Stitching, Cherry Blossom Red Recaro and STI logos. You can probably drive for 3 days straight with those seats - lol.

I tried the Ergomeds at Griffin Motowerks and they were great comfy seats which still held you in, saw the price though (say whuut? 3K a seat instead of 1.5K for Sportsters) so the above is a great price and those come with Air Bags (same hookup as what's been documented here). If you got back problems though, this will fix it.

Finally got around to installing the Sportster CS in my LGT. Install was straightforward and I love it!

Goodbye to OEM seat.

Posi-taps are definitely much cheaper without hacking up the OEM wires - lol. Looking good..

I drove from the Bay Area to San Diego ( 8 hrs ), the added lumbar support the sportster has is a lot of help, even though the padding looks less on the recaro, the fit spreads out more of the load to a larger surface area.

I'm dreaming about how that ergomed feels on a long ride though, because that seat is comfy as heck.

Ergomeds are expensive but way better seats than the sportcross seats
The pictured seat is not the most expensive an imho missing a few important options
I had one in my 2011 sti (with leather bolsters still sitting in my garage unfortunately in Holland) and it fitted great (best thing was the adjustable seat lenght and adjustable lumbar support.

I'm here at the Tokyo Auto Salon (2016) and noticed that Recaro is actually the OEM and they are using the Sportster CS model ( with side airbags ) on the Subaru STI S207.

These pics are from the Recaro booth in the show.

Update:

The Sportster is a much better seat than the Stock STI from both looks, and performance. Even though it looks like it has less padding, the way it contours your body (spreads the load more) and lumbar support helps a whole bunch.

I've gone snowboarding (from the bay to Tahoe) 10 times this winter season (each way is 4 hours), gone from the Bay to San Diego (8 hours one way) and I wouldn't have been able to do that with the stock seats (ouchy back). With the Sporsters, I just get a slightly sore lower back - lol.

With that said, I've decided to take it up a notch and get something even more comfortable with adjustable lumbar and side airbags, purchased the "Recaro Ergomeds with Side Air Bags" from Ricardo, he'll re-skin it to match the stock seats theme ( Cherry Blossom Red stitching, Cherry Blossom Red STI and Recaro Logo, Black Leather Bolsters, and Black Alcantara inserts).

It might not look as hawt as the Sportster CS but I'm hoping we'll have another El-Nino next Wintersports season and it'll be perfect.

Supposed to be getting it in about a month and a half, it's getting reskined.

S'pore STI already picked up the seat, said he was gonna get it re-skinned to match his interior. There's something downright awful with the stock STI seat, I drove my car about 25 miles one way and my lower back was already getting aggravated, POS seat.

Hi ebo03,

Just wondering if you had had chance to use your seat heater extensively since your install, and any issues with the wiring?
I was running the wiring for mine today, but when i saw how thin the black/yellow wires were from the harness into that center console outlet i had second thoughts, they are way thinner than the Recaro wires.

I'm concerned if there is enough capacity in those wires to run the heater without overheating the car harness. Did you have any issues with yours so far, or maybe not used it much? Any idea on how much current the seat draws when its on setting 1/2?

I'm debating just running the wires round the dash to a fuse tap instead, especially since i already re-purposed my center console outlet as power source for the IC water spray kit...

Cheers!

I have had no issues with it. I've used the heater on low and high settings quite a bit.

Received my "Recaro ErgoMed E w/ Side Airbags" in the mail, followup..

Some Notes

1) Bought a wiring harness from Griffin Motorwerke's (Berkeley) - as I bought used and it didn't come with this harness. Seems like it's universal a universal power connector for recent Recaro's (the Sporster CS uses the same power plug for it's seat heater) - 45$

Image

2) Mocked up the Recaro inside bar, no tab sliders on the seat and it seems that I need some spacers between the seat, and the sliders. The little handle (not sure what it actually does) pretty much blocks the use of the slider bar.

Image

3) The ErgoMed has several variations, the one I got has Electronic Tilt Control, a 4 way controller for the lumbar support, Heating, and ventilation option. Other fancier versions have electronic recliner (while mine uses knobs), power thigh and side bolsters. Sorry for the bad pic which looks greasy, was halfway spraying it with Aerospace 303.

I ordered 6061 Aluminum Flat Bar from DiscountSteel.com with the following dimensions

.5 inch (height) * 1.5 inch (width) * 15.5 inch (length) to use as a Spacer between the Seat and the Recaro Rail. Crossing my fingers its enough to make the slider bar engage (thanks to wrxsomeday@nasioc for the tip).

One basically needs the following

21/64 Drill Bit
Drill Press

The first hole should be drilled 53 MM from the EDGE, and the second hole 135 mm from the EDGE.

Drilled Holes in the Aluminum Flat bar

Got enough clearance to engage the slider, Aluminum Flat Bar spacer is between the seat and the slider.

Image

Assembled the Rails along with the Seat Base, note that I also used the Planted 1/4 Spacers on the bottom of the slider. Maybe I should have painted the Aluminum Spacer - lol.

Gotta find time to install it

Looks like the front cushion of the seat is about the same height as a stock GR STI seat. Finger measured it from the front bolt / left bolt point on the seat bracket to the top of the front cushion - looks about right, or pretty close.
