I'm in the Air Force, purchased a Launch Edition last year, and got orders to Germany- every subaru owner's dream! I live down the road from base on an Autobahn (no speed limit- sweet). Topping a hill doing around 85mph, I let off the gas and heard a rather bone chilling BANG, so I coasted to a stop but heard no other sounds. As I drove home, getting around 2000 RPMs you could hear a pretty distinct knocking- going away randomly. No relation to how much pressure the turbo was putting out- it eventually got to the point it was making almost a clicking sound at idle, and it was unbearable to put it into gear. It was ripping my heart out loud to put it up on the tow truck the next day. Hoping it isn't a motor issue but it sure sounds like it...does anyone have ideas? Is it really possible to blow a motor this soon? Tell me it aint so!

Oil was due to be changed- going on 4k and had an appointment that week. Oil was changed on time since the car was purchased, with a standard break in. This is my 2nd Subaru, the first one was a 06 WRX that ran just fine till I bought this car last year. I'm not a mechanic but I am pretty well versed in how NOT to screw up a car...yes I drive like any person would love to in Germany...but 10k is a pretty young engine. Thoughts?

The car is now sitting at a "Subaru Mechanic" here in Germany, waiting for apparently the only Subaru guy in the whole area to get back from a vacation.

Also, does anyone have knowledge on warranties after a car is shipped overseas? I was told offhandedly last year by my Dealership in Arizona that it is probably voided...

If the warranty was void when you took you car o Germany then maybe the dealer ship could have sold you the car for less if they never have to cover anything

You need to call SOA and inquire about their recipricol agreement with other areas of Subaru(outside of SOA).
