35r on the stock motor with meth will keep up with stock ones. Race gas can take "some" of them.....

You need to trap about 130 in the 1/4 to "take" one. Even at that, they'll probably pull on you above those speeds.

I consider my car reliable, however, I can't wait to blow the motor up

He should buy an '04 or '05 that's already built with a rotated kit and start from there. And make good friends with someone who has a lift.

That or he could just buy Bruce's car when he's done with it

And why do these threads need to stop?? If the funds are there, these should be up all the time. Don't ba a a hater 'cause you own an EVO.
Because to any even "slightly" informed person about modding and STi, which i know you are, knows exactly what it takes and the type of responses you will get.

i.e
1. The haters (like me)
2. Dont waste your money, buy a z06
3. Big turbo built motor
4. Tons of cash
etc...etc...etc...

now maybe if this thread was about How you can get an EVO to be as fast as a z06, you might be talking

and don't forget....

If the OP dumps $35k into making his STi a better track car than a C6 Z06, he can't sell it for $60k like a Z06....

cutn edg should be able to stay with or beat a z06 in just about every meaningful parameter on dry, wet or snow. the key word is reliability and i have a long ways to go yet to demonstrate that. i look forward to getting the chance shortly.

do i ever expect to get the money i put into it (WAY more than 60k btw)?
no.
do i give a rat's ass?

damn straight. the 'holy **** that car is badass' factor on cutn edg is through the roof compared to the Z06.

LOL Thanks man. Yeah I'm not concerned with the $$ aspect. Clearly I can buy a new z06 or just put down that money into my already owned STi. I thought about doing this with my 04, but decided to hold off until I was definate about going big with turbo/block/meth. Now I've come to terms with how much I need to spend in order to make it happen. I clearly know that cars depreciate, I just want to have fun doing what I want, and that's possibly make an STi compare to a modded C6 or C6 Z06(stock).

Get a Z06, it will be reliable out of the box and I think comes with the 10 year warranty from Chevy. I don't really think you could make an STI as reliable as the Z06 with that kind of power.:(

And don't forget if the op dumps less than $5k into the Z06 that heavily modded STI that can keep up with a STOCK z06 will get murdered.

...I just want to have fun doing what I want...
Then just put a 20G/FPG on the car, drive the damned wheels off it, and sell it when you want something else. Spending a ton of money trying to build any car into something it was never designed to be, is, well, silly. Take it from a silly guy.

I don't care how much money you throw at it - it will never be "reliable." 500+whp subies are either garage queens, or race cars. And race cars not only break, but they are regularly rebuilt, from the bearings up, every couple of hundred hours of track time. We're talking "pay to play" at its finest. Sheesh, just ask Burnin4: cars like that are not hobbies, they're friggin' lifestyles.

I diasgree. Show evidence that proves otherwise. I would say possibly a DOM 3.0R w/ C16 but even that's stretching it. You will definitely need a 35R or a 40R. Low 11's isn't that easy in an STi. Believe it or not...
Low 11's is plenty easy with a DOM 3.0R given the right driver. Most people cannot get a car (Vette or otherwise) down the 1/4 in any time that would match a magazine time. I know plenty of 13 second STIs with an FPGreen. It is mainly driver. You take a Stock Z06 against a mid 11 sec STI and it is up to the driver. The times are so close, that it is going to be driver. The Z06 will take it from a roll for sure. It would take at least a 35R + Meth to keep up in any other condition. Your best bet is the 1/4 mile track. Then again, you only beat it out in one area and that would be ET. A Z06 is one of the best bangs for the buck you can buy. Period.

well new Z06's run high 11 low 12 depending on the driver
i hav no clue where u guys r getting a low 11 out of a stock Z06
if u lived in AZ or near to it i'd say take ur car to Dynocomp
and get a Viper Killer Kit and that will put u right at a low 11 or high high 10
depending on the tune and the type of gas u use and that goes for about $7k + tax

Yeah! With just a H/C mod the new Z06 would just be silly. I can only imagine. I actually passed up a 2002 C5 with maggie for $28k 'cause I JUST bought my wifes car. My friend picked it up and did a few mods. As it sits it's putting down ~500 to the wheels (about the same as the new Z06)!! It is SOOOO true.....displacement rules!

Judging by all info looks like a different car and keep this on stg2 DD. I'll save a bit more $$ in the long run and have more reliability on a V8. ;)
