Congrats and play safe.. Youve got alot of reading to do
Congrats and be safe! I'd hate to see all that joy turn to sorrow in a few weeks.
Good advice -- above.. Please do not let the speed and power of this car get the better of you. Be smart and safe. I remember me and my judgement at 18 and I dont know if getting this kind of car would have been wise.... Remember -- You do not have to get into a pissing match with every idiot who wants to race.

Enjoy it! tis a wonderful beast

Welcome and congrats! it is a beautiful car, to have something like that at your age is very lucky and a PRIVILEGE as well. Be safe, learn the car, learn to control it, and I aagree with everything else mentioned above.
you paid cash for that at 18? nicely done. I was driving a rustbucket handmedown 68 camaro at 18, definitely could not afford a car let alone pay for one outright at that age. I bet insurance is expensive..!
Congrats!

Some advice from a fellow 18 year old with the same car:

Take it to a track an explore the car's limits, best way to get to know your car and it'll keep you from driving like a maniac on the street.

And you never know, you may like the track experience like I did and make it your new hobby.

Enjoy!

Are you in Montreal btw?

Did a 23 000$ cash down for the car leaving me with small payments.

As for the insurances. I pay about 180$/month

Wow. That is low insurance. What company are you insured with?

I'm currently still Ontario plated but considering switching to Quebec plates. If I can get a similar rate I'll definitely make the switch. I'm currently paying....well a lot more than that. I won't say how much because most people will think I'm an idiot :p
hey welcome another Montreal member, cool!! Subie_PB just came here from Ontario, I've been here all my life. We need to organize more local meets! I swear I see subarus at the Julep every thursday when I go for the bike meets lol.

$180 isn't too bad. Currently I am paying about $90 per month but I am 24 and have a pretty good insurance.

Subie_PB, definitely check out insurance here, it's cheaper than Ontario for sure. Although the plates may be a bit more so look into that.

Yeah I checked it out but I couldn't get anything as low or near as low as 180 a month. I did it on the online site (kanetix). Lowest quote I could get so far was 4600/year, which is less than I currently pay, but the plates are still more expensive. It's not enough to motivate me to go through the hassle of switching registration and taking the license tests.

I don't get why it's so high though, I have 0 demerit points and no tickets.

Maybe I should call a broker.

that's SO weird though. Maybe it is your Ontario plates...dunno. well just keep checking periodically, and also did you ask about University student discounts?

I'll call a broker when I get really serious about it, they usually find the best rates. Never asked about student discounts, I'll try that too and see what other discounts I might qualify for.

As for a meet at the Julep, I'd be down any day. Even today if you'd like, you, me, and call up daniel, joseph and anyone else who wants to join

Actually was gonna go to dance practice tonight, but my motorcycle friends wanted to ride so I'm actually meeting them for a ride tonight, then around 9-9:30 tonight I'm gonna drive the STI up north and do some work on it tomorrow (them S2000 projectors I bought at subiefest last week!!)

Anyways, OP congrats and sorry for off topic convo :S
