Hopefully not too controversial, but I own a 2011 WRX and I'm an ex motorcycle road racer (CBR1000RR) so frankly all cars feel pretty slow on the track, I'd need a ZO6 or GT3 to get even close to road race lap times. I have little trouble keeping up with STIs in my WRX even with greasy Sumitomos and lame stock brakes with DTC60 pads, fluid and lines.
So here's my question, how much faster does the STI drivetrain make a good driver? I here about the rear end warning lights and such. Both cars need suspension and front BBK to get serious. seems like the 6 speed tranny is geared better for most tracks- not sure.
I was just trying to get an idea before I committed a BBK/ suspension and cooling stuff to the WRX.
Not really interested in opinions- mainly lap times and drivability issues.
The last stage 2 STI that was chasing me blew up- so I'm not a big believer in aggressive tunes.
Thoughts?

Go test drive a sti and see whether you feel it's better or not, you have to judge that for yourself. The only thing better on the sti that is significant on track in my opinion is probably the more durable transmission.

Well thx but not very helpful. It's kind of fun when some racer boi gets spanked by a WRX- then asks "what I did to it"- the look on their face when I say "brake pads and $65 Sumitomos " is priceless. Anyway more specific input especially on advantages coming out of corners is appreciated- I'm guessing they both under steer too much and need sway bars/suspension. The WRX does a great job with AWD beating M3 and there ilk on many corner exits
