Things the STi has over the regular WRX:
300HP and 300 ft/lb torque
Brembo brakes
Forged alloy rims (lilghter)
Driver controlled variable differential (if you have to ask, you'll probably never use it)
6-speed transmisson
Pseudo factory body kit (lip kit)
HID headlights
Upgraded suspension
. . . and a few other features
Things the standard WRX has over STi:
More colors to choose from
Sedan OR wagon configuration
Rear seat pass-through from trunk
Stereo as standard equipment
Nicer steering wheel (very subjective, but seems to be the concensus)
All-black/grey interior. . . if blue/black isn't your thing
Smaller wing (or none at all) for better visibility out the back, if that's important to you
More low-key on the street than it's burly brother, less unwanted attention
Sunroof as an option
More mods already on the market / easier to locate / some cheaper than STi mods
Remember, at 227 HP, the base WRX is still a force to be reckoned with. With a few thousand dollars it can be made quicker and handle better. . . and still cost less than the STi. Really depends on your plans for the car.
Bottom line:
WRX is a better daily driver
WRX has more creature comfort options
STi is all about performance
STi really needs no mods
WRX costs several thousand less off the lot
Just need to figure out what's really important to you.
