I forgot to check the sizes before I sold my WRX. Will a WRX air filter fit the STi?

Thanks,

I am 95% sure the stock airboxes are the same but I am not going to buy a replacement filter until I am sure.

I guess I might even start looking at the short ram / cold air intakes too. I was under the impression that they didn't really help much. Dan aka Guru aka God swears by the SUS intake but it is also on a dyno with the hood open and not on the street. We shall see.

I was wondering, cant you just get under the fender well on the air box side and cut the bottom or something like that. then its almost like the short air intakes?

Well I just installed the SUS intake today. It might just be my imagination but I felt a difference in throttle response and at higher rpms but, you cant really tell unless you put it on the dyno. The sound that it makes sucking the air in is pretty cool too and you can hear the stock bypass(blow off) valve.

The resonator box should be the same. What you are referring to there is where the stock intake goes from the wide mouth opening, down into the fender, into the 'resonator' box (aka big open plastic bowl) and then back up towards the MAFS. Yeah, you can very easily pull the resonator out and just do a 180 loop with piping to short cut all of that crap. I think that writeup is on scoobymods somewhere.

Good to hear about the SUS. That's a good looking intake. I think that will be finding it's way onto my shopping list here soon.

yeah I was talking about the resonator box. Any specific brand of SUS better than another. I was looking at the SPT or one of the many different aftermarket.

On those SUS, dont you get about another 15-20 horse, or am I way off. I'd like to hear what your dyno says when you get it.

SUS is Blitz's intake system. There is only one that fits the WRX.

I wouldn't expect that kind of gains from the intake only. Honestly, your best starting place for more power is to open up the backside (downpipe, exhaust) before shoving more air into it.

What is the diameter of the STI exhuast? is it a 2 1/2 or 3inch. If its 2 1/2 then I was thinking of the Turbo XS exhaust, its 3inchs I believe. And just to comfirm, we dont need the uppipe, because Subaru already modified that part?
Thanks for the other stuff! :)

Actually it works incredibly well unlike the regular WRX. It works fantastic when you combine with a downpipe though.

Looks like 2.25 inch. The downpipe/exhaust combo is worth some serious power. I am using my downpipe with stock exhaust and still making great power.

Hey Guru,
Did you do any retuning of the ECU when you installed the intake and downpipe? Also with the new intake in and driving the car do you get this noise, like a quick "pssh pssh pssh pssh," right after you release the throttle, do you know what that is? I know its not the stock bypass valve recirulating the air cause that long "pssssshhh" sound comes right after the quick one?
