Yeah, that sounds right. If you're using an atmospheric BOV you're still losing air that's already been counted. How much that matters when using a MAF is the point of the debate I guess.

I"d think that in the WRC cars you'd want to have a high frequency BOV capable of dumping a lot of air. You want to be able to catch every pressure wave bouncing back towards the turbo and vent it as quicly as possible. Hence the chirping sound.

How neccesary that is on a street car is open for debate.

The wrc car doesn't have a bov. The sound you hear is the wastegate.

Also, the bpv vents the compressed air back into the intake track after the censor. Since the ecu assumes you are running stock boost, it knows how much fuel is needed. When you replace the bpv with a bov, there is more fuel than air( running rich).
