I have heard several people on this forum echo my own sentiment about Gunmetal over the Silver BBS wheels.

I sent a note to SOA letting them know my preference.

It seems like it MIGHT be early enough to have an impact if you LET SOA KNOW NOW!

The choice of gold and gunmetal came from my dealer where I ordered my STi. I saw the actual Subaru order form for the STi....the only thing on there are the 4 colors and the 2 wheel colors.

Also, all the gunmetal wheels I saw are NOT silver. I guess some people can call them a dark silver!

People saying the dealers were calling the color gunmetal is true. However, when Subaru sent out the email survey asking what our color choices were, they had pictures for the 4 body colors and the 2 wheel colors.

The pictures shown in that official survery were NOT gunmetal. They were silver. There is obviously a misunderstanding somewhere....we'll just have to see what people actually get for this so-called gunmetal color.

I saw the actual Subaru order form that they use to place their STi orders. The exact word was Gunmetal. I never saw the email survey, so i can't argue that....but if they showed pictures and didn't specify silver, then gunmetal might look like silver on the web due to the limited colors. There are plenty other misunderstanding and rumors floating around other than wheel colors! We all will have to wait and see!!

Well, the survey said "silver." I'm not doubting you, but maybe SOA is either going to call the Silver wheels gunmetal for marketing purposes, or is actually gunmetal, but with the e-mail survey they sent out showed silver just for interest sake..

who knows. I am hoping for gunmetal, especially on some colors. I know my wife would be emamored!!

Here is my e-mail and the response I have received:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr. Allison:

Thank you for visiting the Subaru Web site and for your kind comments
about the WRX STi that will soon be available in North America!!!

It is always nice to hear positive feedback regarding our products
and/or services. As you can imagine, many people tend to contact a company
only when they are unhappy about a particular situation. We find that
it takes a very special person to take the time to send a compliment
about a product or service that has given such great satisfaction.

We appreciate that you took the time to give us your comments. We will
forward them to our Product Planning Department for their future
consideration. In the past, input from our owners has been helpful in
initiating changes to our newer models. We hope to continually improve our
products and appreciate your recommendations.

Thanks again for your time, comments and suggestion.

Best wishes,

John J. Mergen

YOUR ORIGINAL MAIL:

RE: 2004 WRX STi wheel color choice survey.

First, please send my thanks for bringing the car over in the first
place. Secondly, thank you for making the customer first and actually
doing marketing research as to which color wheel the average consumer
would choose on 'their' STi. I love the gold wheels, but instead of
offering the silver no-cost option, why not opt to make the choices gold and
gunmetal/anthracite (dark grayish..like a titanium look)? I know
through many websites this has been a HUGE request. Please see
www.nasioc.com and www.imprezawrxsti.com . I think the consensus is gold and
gunmetal would be better choice option for the car. Please pass my remarks
to the highest level for serious consideration.
Thanks and best regards,
Todd Allison
