michigan dealer dealings

Now that I've seen it from a range of angles, I have to admit that the old STI bugeyes car beats the new one for looks. Maybe it's the new "evil eyes", more likely it's the new blubous nose. :-?

I disagree. I like the bug eyes don't get me wrong...due to it's quirky uniqueness. It doesn't look fast if it's coming up behind you at night with just the main headlights on (fog lights off)

But the new headlights are much better looking. I didn't have to have them "grow on me" like the bug eyes did.

I have to say I love the new look. I didn't buy a 2002 WRX because I just didn't like the front styling. I never really liked Morette (sp?) or STi head lights but they at least made it look a little better.

As a long time fan of the Subaru WRC team I certainly liked the previous model STI. Especially the "Pro-Drive" version.

I have to admit that I do prefer the new look a little bit more. In short, as long as it looks like the actual race car I don't care too much.

while i like the bugeyed version, i'm very enthusiastic about the new face. although the headlights are similar to the toyota corolla (with the dipped and rounded inboard ends), i think the whole package looks very aggressive and purpose-built. i can't wait for autoart to realise the diecast of the my03 WRC rally car.

I agree I think the new look is a lot better. It makes the car look more aggressive. I agree with the fact that we had to let the bugeyes of the previous models "grow on us" and with this model I liked it from the second I saw it.

You know I don't think the WRX/STi is all that "dumpy" looking, but after switching pics from the bug-eyes to the new look the older look definately makes the car slower, less aggressive, and generally bulky for a sports car.

Anyone else see this? Maybe its my imagination, but the old version was more cute and less mean.

I agree with guest; when I first saw the new styling I thought to myself, "Hmmm... from certain angles this thing looks almost like a 4 door Skyline..."

Which is certainly not a bad thing. :)

There are some angles where it doesn't look great, but I'm thinking this is a car that looks better in person than in pictures.

I would have to agree with chawklit on this one. I think both styles look good, but neither really stands out, though I believe that is the beauty of this car, it has some what agressive looks(maybe the new style a little bit more), but not enough to warrent the "I bought this car because I'm rich, though I have no clue how to drive it" image.

I still think the new STI looks worse.

In fact, I'm beginning to actually find it distasteful. I checked out the US (psuedo) EVO 8 over the weekend, which is a more attractive vehicle, although not as attractive as the 7 was. Of course, the US so called EVO is not the car that the STI is. Still, what is it with Scooby car designs these days?

I dunno....we could talk about this stuff all day long. Everyone likes something else.

I think the Mitsu looks like the cheapest thing not to come from a Korean company and the STi is something I would have designed in my dreams.

Go figure.....a different opinion yet! :p

I'm one of the dorks that feel in love with the bug eye look in europe... It does give it the toned down clunky family car look... maybe thats why i liked it.... I can't say that they didn't improve the look though..
