Hi!

I'm looking to see which replacement pads are as quiet as stock the Brembo pads and are at least equal in performance to the stock pads.

Low dust would be a plus but not the focus, I'm just looking for quiet pads.

The pads would be for 99% street use and maybe an occasional track day.

Thanks in advance.

hehe - everyone has a suggestion

I'll suggest that there is almost no way to insure that any pad in the Brembo's will be quiet.

Ceramic - metallic - carbon fiber -

The fact is the stock Brembo's on STi'sand EVO's are very prone to noise with any pad.

You may choose your pads more based on performance and price rather than noise - because I have doen quite a few brakes on STi's and almost all of them make soem brake noise.

If you don't like noise and dust stay away from Hawk HP+ pads.... I love them but they do make noise when not heated up. Sounds like brake problem type of squeal althought when warmed up they work damned good! :D
Ive seen a lot of people complaining about the Hawk HPS being noisy...but I blame installing them with the stock shimms...I for one had terrible noisy stock pads (went through two sets of them...and both squeeked) now I have no noise...

Could be.... The noise isn't bad enough for me to pull the shims out. Noise doesn't bother me at all. I love my brakes! :D The dust is no worse than stock.

Follow up.. After about a month.
I went with Hawk HPS, coated them with CRC spray on disk brake quiet,CRC brake and caliper grease, no stock shims on front, stock shims on rear.

Flushed and filled with ATE Super Blue, with normal pedal feel.

No squeaks except during bedding with 100 to 0 stops, then when hot it squeaked a bit during light braking.

Normal everyday driving no squeaks and less dust.

Mission Accomplished.

I dig my hawk HP+ pads....for the first few weeks they squealed like a mofo...then it went away...even in reverse i hardly ever hear it. They do dust about the same as the stockers...but combined with some SS lines and the Master cylendar brace....its night and day in stopping performance....

was plannin on goin with hawks..but i had a time crunch and needed new pads the same day, so i went with some ebc red's that we had in stock. theyre acutally better than i thought. low dust, low noise..i dont run abs for the track and they dont get soft. also running braided lines, super blue and drilled rotors. good heat threshold imo

Axxis Ultimates are typically described as being moderately dusty with very good bite with reports of squealing at light pedal pressure at lower speeds. We have this description of them on our website:

This Kevlar and Ceramic-strengthened compound offers far and away the best price to performance ratio currently available in a high performance street pad. Performing a proper bedding procedure is critical to the performance of this pad but once complete, you can expect truly world class bite, MOT, minimal rotor wear, pad wear, and noise levels. Dust is medium to high. On front engine platforms, the ULT is excellent for aggressive street and autocross use in the front calipers. It also works very well in the rear for applications ranging from aggressive street to moderate track use. ULT is NOT recommended for use on road courses in front calipers. Doing so can cause pad deposition on rotors as well as the resulting vibration. Street only. OK for club level track use in rear calipers

Lemon: If you dont see noticeable amounts on your wheels after 2-3 days of driving normally, then its likely that you do not actually have the Ultimates installed on your car. Dust levels should be similar to what the factory Brembo pads put out.

Funny, mine don't dust at all. My friend has them on his max and he says they dust like crazy but are quiet.... So I am intreged by how this is.
Actually, I made a mistake. Glad you pointed this out. They dust more than Bobcats, but less than stock pads. With Bobcats I could go about a month without buildup. The dust on these builds after about two weeks. Stock pads coated the wheels in about 4 days. So, my reference was based off of Bobcats but I mistakenly said stock.

Mine dust SIGNIFICANTLY less than the stock brembos did. I paid for ultimates and they match the pictures Ive seen of ultimates, they perform better than stock, but they came in a generic box so I have no way for knowing for sure.

I had EBC Redstuff on my car for 20,000 milles. the were quiet (never a peep from front, but had to put some brake quiet on the rears) and dusted a lot less than stock, never faded on Road America(Canada Corner was great) for an hour. However after the track time and 20,000 miles they ate my rotors and the pads were toast. I just got new rotors and I bought another set. I had stock for a week and went back to the EBC because They stop 100 times better than stock. I have no confidence in the stock pads after having the EBC Redstuff for so long. I should get 30,000 out of them if I don't do the track day.
