Wheel stud install?

2797 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  BadlandsRacer
Looking for a good thread for proper installation of wheel studs, on both an 05 STi and an 06 WRX. The STi will be receiving extended studs in the front...the WRX just needs two replaced on the front right. I did a little searching for an existing how-to or some other information...found none on IWSTI. Anyone point me in the right direction?

A press is not needed for installation, correct?

Yep def dont need a press to install wheel studs. Just take off you wheel, caliper and rotor then beat the studs out with a decent sized sledge hammer.

When I installed mine I just put them in the hub and then put a real thick spacer over the threaded end and seated them in the hub by tightening down a lug nut over the spacer. That will pull the stud right into the grooves in the rotor. Easy peezy.
Extended studs in the rear is a different animal.

The front 06+ require a bit more work compared to the 04-05 STi when going extended studs but no press is needed.

No problem.

Yay for my STI being special if/when I go with extended studs...

We're just doing OEM studs on the 06 WRX. Only the STi needs extended studs.
