The STi has the same fenders as the WRX, right? What the max width of rim and tire that can be comfortably squeezed into those fenders without any rubbing? What sort of offsets would be ideal?

Just wondering what you WRX folks have come up with.

thanks,

scott

edit: Tire Rack only offers an 8-inch rim on their car configuration page. I guess 9's are out, eh?

There was a Vishnu-tuned WRX in the October 2001 issue of Sport Compact Car (the fastest of the 6 WRXs featured) wearing 245/45ZR17s.

Then there's always Cobb's "Conebasher": 18x10s at all 4 corners (with custom widebody fenders). I forget what size the tires were. Obviously not a direct swap.

the wrx stock rims are 53mm offset. You can go as low as 48mm which is what I'm using on a 225/45/17. Some are using 45mm offset, but I remember reading something that said you should'nt go that low, why I can't remember. The widest tire i've seen is 245. You would have to take into consideration the ride height as well, the lower you drop your car the more likely you'll get rubbing. someone correct me if I'm wrong.
