Where did you buy your STi's? How much did you pay and what color did you get? I have a Silver/Silver. I have not seen another STi on the road. I saw 3 EVO's last saturday 6/21/03.
1) Got mine from Livermore Subaru
2) MSRP + cost of (boost gauge, armrest extension, upgraded security)
3) WR Blue Pearl/Gold
4) I saw 2 WR Blue/Silvers within the past 3 weeks? One on HWY 1 going south past Pescadero, and the other in Fremont
5) I saw 2 EVO 8's in the past 2 weeks - both on the same night  and both White

I wanna see a Black Java Pearl/Gold combo in person...i think the gold flakes look fly with the gold BBS rims :D

We should start a Bay Area STi meet!

San Jose checking in. Picked up mine Tues (6/24). Black Java Pearl w/Gold BBS rims. The only one I've seen...and I'm absolutely in love it with it. Is it wrong to make love to a vehicle?

So I bought the thing on Sunday, without even test driving it. It was on its way in on the truck, they said which was due to arrive on Tuesday (Stevens Creek Subaru, San Jose). So Tuesday morning I'm driving to work, and I'm on the 680 North in Pleasanton (headed for San Ramon), and my eye catches the car carrier...and I saw it...the only black/gold one on the truck. Anyway, I was pretty excited at the time.

Paid MSRP plus the boost guage armrest, alarm option ($32,217). I think I got ripped on the sound system (6 CD changer, subwolfer, upgraded speakers)...$2,400. Which he stated included a $1,000 margin that he needed for giving me the car at MSRP. I did also get the Lojack, Prestige paint and interior treatment and the extended warranty.

The sound system is backordered, so I'm without one until Subaru sends one of the 7 in the country to the dealer. Apparently, some of the components are unique to the '04 STi.

I got the sound system installed on my STi and the only thing unique about it was the silver face instead of the black that came with the old wrx. My dealer charged me only 2100 for the sound system which is way too high in my opinon.

Damn! That is way too high for a stock sound system. Atleast you got the car too! Do you plan on keeping the sound system? My car gets some beats on Tuesday July 1st. I'm paying $1700 for an Eclipse 8053 head unit, Zapco 350 amp and Alumapro 6.2 speakers or Diamond Audio speakers. I will add a sub later!

I'm curious to know how your purchase experience went. Did the dealer try and pull a fast one?

When I showed up at the dealership I had my fiancing. They gave me some forms and said it was standard for me to fill out. The form was a credit application. I asked them why I needed to fill it out if I already have financing from my Credit Union. Anyway after I filled out the form they came back and ask if my wife needs to be on the car. I told them yes since she is with the Credit Union.

So I sit there for 1/2 hour while they keep coming back asking me if she needs to be on the car. I finally get pissed and say whatzup...is there a problem? The sales rep takes me back to sign for the car and guess what...the whole time I was sitting there waiting for my car the finance manager is trying workout a deal for me to buy the car from them. I was pissed until I saw the numbers  I just couldn't put my wife on the title! No sweat because in Cal its 50/50 no matter what. hehehehe

Anyway I would love to see your cars and meet you San Jose area people. I know there are a lot of you not just in San Jose! There are some nice rides up HWY 9. Do you every go to Alice's? If you do I know they would freak on a bunch of STi's up there together. I saw a group of Prowlers one time and my friend a Ferrari group. That was funny because he just happen to be in one and joined the group. He said the police just turned a blind eye and let them drive the hell out of their cars.

Well please check in and tell us about your experience purchasing the vehilce. Anyone buy out of state? I almost with to Murley but my credit union wouldn't finance the car. I ran the numbers with Murley and it was only $400 to ship the car to San Jose! Cheaper than a plan ticket and gas!

I bought out of state in Arizona. I used to live there so back in November I put a deposit down on my car. I've had the car since May 30th. The car isn't registed in California yet. I have an appointment with the DMV on Wednesday to do this. I can't wait to pay the sales tax/bend over fees on the car. Yay!

Just got my front spoilers painted after finding out that I can't park in the driveway. So now I'm happy.

I'm white with silver wheels in the Walnut Creek area.

I also put my own system in with an Alpine 9813 head unit and Infinity 6.5 co axils in the front. No rear speakers or subwoofer yet. Just needed some tunes for now. The system cost me about $500 so far. In the end I might spend about $700-$800 on the stereo system. Maybe a little more if I go XM.

My friend has XM and swears by it! He thinks Howard Stern is going to switch over after his contract is up. I stopped listening to Howard years ago but that would be a major coup.

I've wanted a nice system in my car for too long to not go for it now. I'm thinking about XM. It would be alot easier to have an account that i could use at home and in the car. Do you know if you have to have 2 accounts for your car and home? Can you roll it into one?

I know they have something out there now that allows you to take the unit out of your car and into the home. I would rather just have 2 dedicated units.

Hey Darwood: Did you see the Cowboy Bebop Movie? That is Spike under your name right? I love that series! Didn't like the ending but thats only because I was raised with American endings.(Happy fairytale endings!)

Why did you have to paint your front spoiler? Why couldn't you park in the driveway? In San Jose you can leave a inoperable vehicle in your driveway for 72 hours without moving it. Your STi is operable so I don't see a problem. Just curious...do you live in a condo with CCR's?

damn... that is insane for an OEM sound system. no chances of getting a refund?

figures... stevens creek subaru... go check BAIC on i-club and you can see 100000 bad reviews and maybe 1 good one for SC...

who told you they were unqiue? the SC sales droid? does it have pink STi logos on it?

well, my story was a weird one. last month, on a friday afternoon, someone posted on i-club's and nasioc's bay area forum that he couldnt afford his STi from santa cruz. so who ever has $700 for his downpayment/deposit, he would give them his spot.

so i emailed, PM etc, him so by friday nite, he calls me back and gives me his spot. he calls santa cruz about me being his friend and taking over his spot. dealer says fine.

saturday morning, he leaves voice message saying dealer is ready, car is being detailed as we speak. cool. so i call santa cruz to talk to salesman and confirm. he says yes. i tell him i'll be there later in the day. he says he wont but someone else will handle it. COOLER!!!

so around noon, i start to swap out aftermarket tires/rims back to stock. then i drive to hayward to remove uppipe. so everything is stock. even proceed to remove kartboy shifter. all i leave is kartboy bushing. too hard... ;)

anyways, time to remove uppie takes longer and by satruday 4pm, i call santa cruz telling them. alternate sales person tells me to wait... then i find original sales person (that claimed to be leaving by 2pm) to still be there.

this time, he is almost screaming at me. he says he is getting calls from lots of people on the list saying that the dude who's giving up his space and i, were on a suspicious deal. salesman goes online and finds the original post of the person and tells me that the post was illegal, blah, blah blah and cannot sell the car to me!!!!!

i'm bummed. in fact, i posted that story here...

but the good news came 2 days later. alex, owner of i-club, is friend with a salesman in bianco subaru (marin county). he has 2 STis for MSRP!!!!!!!!

so i immediately call the guy and make plans for the next day. this is late monday afternoon.

so tuesday morning, i make my way to marin county. 2 hours later, i drove home in my new black with gold rims... :) :) :)

now i traded in my sedona red 2002 wrx that had less than 15000 miles. i received about $1 per mile trade-in... :(

i did pay msrp with boost gauge (biggest piece of sheeeeet), alarm (which is actually nice) and arm rest extension (very nice).

last 2 saturdays, i did 10-12 hours of audio install. still not finish. will be driving to oregon in a week. should be killer drive... ;)

ldivinag: Congradulations on your car! Sounds like the "Gods" were smiling down on you. Most people have to wait months before they receive a car and it only took you 3 days! What sound system did you install? Sounds like it must be a killer one if its taking you 12+ hours.

How do all of you members/lurkers like the armrest extension? I was thinking about it but don't know if its good with a stick. My wife has a WRX Wagon Auto with the extension and I love driving with it! I keep trying to put my arm down when I'm driving my STi. Its starting to bug me because I miss that extension. Do you think it gets in the way?

Oh, I forgot to say have fun on your drive ldivinag. I made that drive alone back in college. (Took 14 hours) It was worth it because I was going to see a "friend" at the University of Oregon. I had a smile the whole way back!

I didn't think I would need the armrest extension when it came with the car...but now I can't live without it...

it doesn't get in the way of shifting at all.

to all the bay area members...we should really start an STi meet at least once a month...for serious...i really wanna check out ldivinaq's Java Black Pearl with Gold rims
