235 would be safe, you might get away with 245 depending on the tire and your suspension...

and why 2 threads on the same page for the same topic?

noone should've replied to this one either!

i don't understand how people don't use the search feature.

we should make a sticky that says the following.

Title: "STICKY: Will this tire fit!? find your answer here"

Body:

If you really have to ask you're not ready to go wider than 245.

and if you're lowerd on crap springs stick with 235s.

kthnxbye.

<haha poor kid, i'm usually nice....sometimes>

EDIT1: ok, to be honest if you want it to fit no worries go with a 235/40 18.

and buy some better springs.

EDIT2: why do you want the widest tire possible? (yes this is a quiz)

EDIT3: you're in naples! do you have the car yet? your prof says otherwise.

EDIT4: <just so people know i'm not trying to "pad" my post count LOLs>

I have an 06 STI w/ same wheels, running 235/40/18 Dunlop FM901s no rubbing whatsoever on S-techs. you can go 245, but would have to slim down to a 35 but depending on tire also. 35 series gets too rough of a ride, 40 series has a lil more meat and drives better for me. but its all preference. good luck!

My 04' STi on S-tech springs:

Your answer: 265/35/18

but you're special.

you wanted to make them fit.

most people just want to buy tire, mount tire, mount wheel to car, drive home.

I see your logic where 35 is shorter than 40.

but if the overall diameter is the same, and the only difference is section width, wouldn't a 35 and a 40 side wall be the same size?

EDIT: let me refrase that, if the overall diameter is the same and the only difference is section width a 35 profile and a 40 profile are the same size.

now, if you had a 225/40 18 and a 225/35 18. sure the 35 is going to suck.

not if he drops 600 bucks on a set of tires and they rub.
