I am looking get get gauges for my STi and was wondering which ones are the most important to get since I will be modding my car and even slightly increasing boost.


I know a boost gauge is one of them, but not sure what else do i need.
EGT? Fuel Press?

I know this question shouldn't be trivial but with my experience I've found each car is different.

In my turbo civic, all I needed was a boost gauge and an A/R gauge.
On my 3000GT VR-4 I needed a boost gauge, A/R, and two EGT's.

I like to have oil pressure and EGT

air/fuel ratio is cool, but there's really not much you can do to change that anyway, so it just ends up looking pretty

I'm going with gauges a little better than the autometer I had before. I was not happy with the accuracy of the boost gauge and I know people who's EGT keeps blowing. Probably Defi for me, so they will match the stock instruments.

Yup and yup

Boost, EGT and oil pressure would be the way to go in my books. That's what I'll throw in.

A/F really doesn't do you much good in gauge form. If you really want to see the ratio, have a laptop like connection and a wideband O2. Most of the time, that isn't something you need to monitor closely. It is needed for tuning, and that's about it.

If Oil pressure falls then your turbo might not be getting enough cooling. Thus, it might overheat and lockup as well as your engine.

Turbo metrics has the autometer bezels that fit around the stock gauges and take 52mm gauges. I am going to test fit one this weekend to see how I like it. I will take a pic and post.
