I am a Texan... now. Relo'd from Cali and been here a few years. Been waiting on an STi for years. Another buddy out here has ordered one also... from a dealer with a short line in near Boston, Mass.

Hope to take delivery in a few months... and see the pinging issue resolved before then.

Cheers, y'all! Whoop-Whoop.

Anyone else going to be out there for the SCCA event this Sunday? I am. All Subarus. Talk of an STi to be there also!

I am going to shoot some video and hope to be a passenger to get some interesting stuff.

Was an awesome event. Someone said it to be the largest number of Subarus brought together at once outside of some factory event. Am glad I went and saw the STi in action. #9 ran a ~58 second lap in stock. Not bad given fastest of the day went to Chris Fleming and his 400hp stage 3 decontented street modified at ~56 seconds!

Am looking forward to getting out there and doing some driving after I get my car.

BTW... I talked to a Subaru factory service tech (Jim -- down from Oklahoma) about the detonation. He was aware of the chatter and only mentioned the car needing 93 octane.

Welcome, as you can see by the post right above yours, my first post was pre-STi ownership. Trust me, the car is worth the wait. Again welcome to the group and enjoy.

That's right. I live in Austin. And I haven't seen another STi around here yet. Saw a blue one up in Dallas a couple weeks ago but that's the only other one I've seen. I'm enjoying the exclusivity so far. I've seen 4 or 5 Evos driving around though.

Yes, Spaceballs rules.

I got mine at Austin Subaru. They're great people. At first they wanted $5000 over MSRP for it. But I told them that I had my name on the Huffines list in Dallas and the car was coming next week. So I walked out of the dealership. 2 hours later, the sales guy calls me back and asks if I would take the car if it was only $1000 over MSRP. I then asked if they could drop the destination charge. The sales guy went to go "talk to the manager" and came back like 5 seconds later and said sure. So that was + $1000 - $550 = + $450 over MSRP. Not bad. If I had gotten my car at Huffines in Dallas it would have been $550 (destination charge) + MSRP. So I think I came out about $100 ahead in the deal. Of course then I plunked down some money for a turbo gauge so that evened out.

Incidentally, don't buy anything from Gillman, they tried to sell me their first STi for $3000 over MSRP and when I got into it the odometer read 250 miles. That's 250 test drive miles on the first STi in Austin. I was supposedly 15th on their wait list, yet they offered me their first STi, hmmmmm.....
