Hi, I'm a new here but I plan on becoming a regular visitor, or at least for awhile.

In about a month, I will hopefully be able to buy a new car. Keep in mind right now I am driving a Nissan '88 Sentra (if anyone has ever seen one you can laugh with me). Anyway, after comparing the WRX with the STi in terms of performance (the main thing I would want it for), would it be worth wating? From what it looks like, we will probably get the UK version in terms of performance, at 260hp and 0-60 in 5.2. SOA's website has a movie saying the regular WRX can achieve that in 5.4 at 227 hp. If I can get a car, I already plan on getting some of the STi standard features available on the WRX(spoiler, 17" wheels, short throw shifter, muffler), which brings me back to my question. Would it really be worth the wait if the only thing that I'm concerned with is performance?

Last question, how hard would it be to upgrade the WRX to STi in terms of performance if I could do that a little bit later on, and how much of a difference do the Brembo brakes make?

Thank you very much for reading all of that and responding.

Well if your talking about upgrading parts with genuine STI parts to basically do an STI conversion it isnt worth it. You could do it with performance parts easily to STI specs and even more if you wanted. But the one thing our engine doesnt have is AVCS. That would be an added plus to getting an STI.

Cost-wise it wouldn't make sense to try to turn a WRX into an STi. Engine, tranny, brakes and seats would all cost a fortune to add.

If you're in the market for a new car now, you can't go wrong with a regular WRX. I'm not ready to buy now, or I'd get one. It's a great car - I was just talking to someone that sold his '95 M3 and bought a WRX and he's happy as heck with it.

I wouldnt even bet with decent adds that it would be out then, sorry I just highly doubt it, SOA hasnt even made a thing official, all of this is speculation until they say something. Just my $.02

I couldn't wait, patience and I do not get along that great (when it comes to cars at least). I love the WRX, just a fab car. Perhaps the STi i bug will hit me and I will have to trade in my baby, we'll see...
