Time for a new ride..the concept for the 2014 is looking amazing but how the final car will look could be different.
Any clue as to when a new WRX is coming?

The 2014 is the same model as the current STi. The 2015 will be when the new chassis is available.

If you don't mind waiting a year then wait for the 2015.

8-9 months, and it'll be worth it. Why buy a 10 year old car?

I was going to say that same thing.

wait for 2014? why not wait for 2015?

Then if you hate the 2015, get the 2014's that are still available!
I'm sure after the 2015 is released you'll be able to pick up a 2014 leftover for real cheap.

They are making a very limited number of 2014s. I would still wait for the 2015, even if its hideous it will still 99% be faster than the current model. And no one buys a STI because they look good anyways.

As far as I know, there will not be an STi model in 2015, just a WRX with the same 2.0T motor out of the new Forester XT (might get a small bump in power).

Unless I missed something major, Subaru has not said a single word about a WRX STi, just the next gen WRX.

I think it's fairly safe to assume that a new STi will be released at the same time. The current STi is slated to have it's production ended soon and the 2015 WRX should start selling soon after that.

Also remember that the WRX has always been in essence a base model of the STi. So they are usually lumped together.
New here and new to subaru.... Can't wait and will get a 08 GRB and wait till 2016... Let see any excite from subaru.
Wouldnt make any sense for subaru to only release the wrx. They havent done that for the 2004-2014 why now?

“Some say that he can’t eat mashed potato for religious reasons, and that he recently received 47,000 tickets, Olympic tickets, all of them for the final of the Women’s Wrestling. All we know is he’s called the Stig.”
Either the WRX STI is taking longer than expected to revamp properly... or they're going to have a huge STI release with the BRZ STI and the WRX STI at once to milk as much marketing for the STI line as possible.
Or, they will kill off the sti entirely. Think about it. It's essentially died on the vine over the last 10 years. They never upgraded the horsepower. They don't need it to exist anymore as they don't rally. And I'm sure it doesn't pay it's bills being such a low volume car. They already killed it in the UK. It's primary competition is from the Evo and that will be dead shortly as well. Is their really any business case to keep it? I would argue yes for simple brand perception however their bean counters may disagree. For all our enthusiast love, they have bloated their entire lineup and killed off the legacy wagon as well as the legacy gt. the current wrx, on paper, is right up there with the sti in the acceleration department. That's no accident. I'm in the fence about running out and buying what may be the last wrx sti.
We have seen photos of both the wrx and wrx sti testing. So i think its safe to say they arent getting rid of the sti.

I'm highly contemplating selling mine now and saving up for a 2015... but I have soooo much work in this car. An being without a STI for the winter or 8-9 months might make me go to bed crying every night.
stop making STi's? that would be the same as if apple stopped making iPhones. why stop a product thats been consistantly dominating its class?

What if the class has died out?

is a good point but might be too early to declare that. and this is just a thought and my knowledge in this area lacks, but if im right subaru doesnt participate in WRC because of their engine displacement. isnt there speculation that they are puttin in a redone 2.0L? re-qualifying them for WRC.

might of made myself look like an idiot but w/e

My guess is the 2.0 is to address the Gas mileage concerns and appease the government more than re-qualifying for rally. Subaru is slowly being assimilated by Toyota. :(
