I am looking at a set of Volk TE37 (SL) for my 2012 STI and have a few questions for the wheel experts around here. Size wise I was looking at the 18x9 +45 (SL) or 18x9.5 +40 and I am finding conflicting information as to weather they will clear the front brakes without spacers, anyone know for sure?

I am ok with having to do a bit of roll on the back fenders but would prefer to avoid it. For tires I was looking at 265x35R18 either Continental ExtremeContact DW or Michelin Pilot Super Sport because they both review pretty well, seem to wear well, and are supposed to be quiet for this kind of tire at least. Any advice on the size or model would be appreciated.

As for the use the car is mostly a DD but I am planning a trip for some curvy roads later this year and a track day now and then. I like the look of the Volks and wanted a bit more rubber on the ground.

therobbie22 - i dont normally do this, but check out my subie album on my facebook. i have plenty of pictures posted pre suspension mod to show you what the te37sl would look like on a '12 sedan. i hope it helps. the fitment is 18x10+40. like the guys above said, +20 just isn't right. if you are definitely willing to get the volks, wait just a little bit longer for the right size... trust me... its beyond worth it. here is a link to my facebook, just check out the pics to get an idea.

Semi-noob question, but I want a set of TE37 with a good concave look. I know that the SL is the popular wheel. However, I am wanting the gloss black with the blue lettering of the standard TE37.

I will most likely get 18x10 +40, but I hear that the SLs are more concave than the regular. Is this true, by how much, and does anyone have pictures for reference. I ant seem to find anything on it, and wheels/sizing is not my strong suit.

standard TE37 don't go concave till you get to a +22mm offset which is too low for an STI.

the TE37SL is actually concave in 18x10 +40mm versus the flat faced 18x9.5 +40mm TE37.

You can order the TE37SL in black. The TE37SL Black Edition for example.

I think its good. I dunno, I am a powertrain guy, I know engines, hp/tq, transmissions, that sort of thing. I don't know crap about suspension, all I learn about it is on forums.

With that said, coilovers are very pricey, but I have seen these Tein Street Flex on rallysportdirect. They are priced well, and Ive heard of Tein. Any thoughts on those?

yes. Some people have issues. Others don't. This is at the point where you may need a 5mm spacer to clear, or you wont.

Ok, I am pretty close to placing my order for some SL black editions. But I have a few quick questions:

1. I keep hearing about hub centric rings. What do they do? Do I need them? If what what kind/size? Where would I find them?

2. I know I "should" use tapered lugs on these. Any Suggestions on length/brand? I would prefer blue ones.

3. I am looking to get the centercap adapters, anyone have experience with these?

4. Will the OEM TPMS fit in these wheels?

Well my te37sl black editions came in. Here is my next big project... I have these with hub centric rings, and I want to run center cap adapters. I know the racing sciences set is a whole lot cheaper, and now rays has a set but are like 2.5 times the cost. Will these adapters work with hub centric rings.
Also, the caps themselves, will the GT special edition blacks work in low trim? I have conflicting stories about the clearance of the rear axle hub needing more clearance.

Need help, I'm ready to order, just cannot get reliable info from vendors

Why not go with the 18x10 +40mm with a 265?

275 hits the struts but 265 clears most coils.

which coils are you running?
