So for a while now I've been reading up on Urban Exploration. Basically exploring old abandoned buildings and snapping a few photos along the way. A local Subie owner got into it and started sharing his photos with us. I soon started to research the sites and more about UE but I told myself I would be content with just looking up the sites on Google Maps and that was it. Well after finding a few sites were very close to where I grew up, places I had worked, etc. I had to go check them out. I have been slacking for a while but I finally went to my first site the other day. :) Here are pics:

The Patuxent Mental Hospital opened its doors in 1925. During the early years this facility was known as a state-of-the-art treatment facility. With a good reputation this hospital set the standard for other states to follow.

With declining conditions decades later many patients filed lawsuits against the hospital for reasons of abuse, neglect, poor living conditions... even medical testing. A small morgue was all that stood between the patients and a cemetery on site where graves have been repeatedly uncovered by erosion.

Little activity can be found on the site after its closure in 1991. Now over 20 buildings sit abandoned and decaying lost in the woods of Maryland. There is little evidence of future plans for the site.

I was surprised it wasn't that freaky/scary. Although in one of the buildings some other people have found what look like unmarked graves in the basement of a building, mostly since the mounds of dirt are hollow indicating that whatever was once in there has rotted away. :scurred:

There were a lot of broken windows which still had mini blinds attached to them, so when the wind blew you would hear the blinds bang around which was a little scary.

You didn't go there alone did you? That'd be out of a horror movie
Nah went with 3 other people, one of which has been to this site multiple times.

The next 2 sites I'm looking at going to I'm planning on going solo. :)

cool stuff. we used to do the same thing back in some of my photography classes. abandoned buildings always make for great backdrops. there was a hotel up in Dansville NY that people called the Castle. big hotel on the side of a hill that you could see from the highway, and huge inside. after a few visits we ended up getting pinched for trespassing, but the judge we appeared in front of was real cool.

I suggest you come back with a pick up truck and snag that Mr. Do and Millipede arcade machines. Wait a sec...they may be haunted. Kudos for you having the balls to explore a creepy looking place.

SESSION 8!!!

Dude thats awesome! I want to try it! Please answer some questions for me:

1) Where do you find these places?

2) Do you require a certain pass or allowance to go through there?

I can't wait to try this! I always wanted to, but never knew a hobby like-so existed! Awesome!

P.S. Love the pictures!!!
