Your OEM TMIC does just fine at stock boost under normal use, but as soon as you start putting some real heat into it with higher boost or harder use, it heat-soaks beyond recovery. GrimmSpeed has designed the ULTIMATE top mount intercooler for your performance oriented Subaru. Rather than designing the largest possible core, or the core with the highest possible fin density, GrimmSpeed created a well-rounded unit that's designed specifically for Subarus making up to 550whp. That said, this particular core flows over 1500CFM and will support up to 575WHP before it's likely that a FMIC might be better suited for your system. To achieve the quality, tight tolerances, pressure tightness and strength that you expect, permanent mold casting were used. Every end tank is cast from the same CNC machined mold, ensuring a dimensionally perfect castings with an amazing surface finish. After casting, every single mating surface is precision machined for a leak-free finish and unbeatable fitment. Finally every intercooler is hand TIGed then pressure tested to 50psi and thoroughly cleaned before it's sealed up and prepared for shipping.
Important Note: An STI style Y pipe is necessary for installation. For best fitment, purchase a GrimmSpeed Y-pipe kit.

Want to stop choking your TMIC with those tiny plastic baffles? Maybe you're just looking to freshen up your engine bay with a touch of GrimmSpeed style. Well, there's something for everybody with the GrimmSpeed Y-Pipe Kit. A number of factors were taken into consideration in the design of this kit. The biggest design decision was to create a two-piece kit instead of a single casting. The reason for this is simple. Due to the high-end manufacturing methods, the GrimmSpeed TMIC can hold insanely tight tolerances in the spacing and machining of the two inlet flanges. Unfortunately, many aftermarket manufacturers struggle to hold their tolerances tight enough to allow for a one-piece y-pipe that would fit every time. The GrimmSpeed y-pipe kit will offer those of you with other TMICs just enough wiggle room to make them work. Couplers are wrapped 5 plys thick with a heat-resistant fiber reinforcement between each layer to ensure that the couplers hold their shape even under the toughest conditions. Couplers are made from a durable, heat-resistant silicone that is guaranteed not to degrade or crack, even with thousands and thousands of heat cycles. Stainless steel T-bolt clamps are supplied for each and every connection.
