one last try

It is kinda steep. For that price I'd go with PPP stage 1 for $1150 (albeit that's for the WRX, but I'd imagine it'd be the same) and it would be warranteed I think. Not as big of a gain but you get more than just an exhaust.

The price isn't that steep for a 100% stainless steel turbo-back exhaust with a hi-flow cat. Compare it to other turbo-back exhausts such as Vishnu's (~$1350), MRT (~$1,245), or BPM (~$1200) and you'll see that they're all right around there. Remember, this includes a downpipe, catted midpipe, and the muffler section. A good cat-back exhaust alone costs ~$500-600. Perrin's downpipe with cat is ~$550.

A Prodrive Power Pack (Stage 1) comes only with the rear muffler, intercooler hoses (which the STi won't need), and an ECU re-flash for a 20whp gain according to http://www.spimotorsports.com/. From my understanding (from [email protected]), the PPP for the WRX is not warrantied by Subaru like in certain places in Europe.

It definately works very well. There is qute a bit of power to be had on the STi. What made a HUGE difference on ours was the SUS intake. Talk about awesome performance per dollar. It needed the downpipe to flow though.

What are you going to put on your new STi

I don't think $1100 is that bad of price. The question is will I still be able to drive my 7 month old daughter in the car while sleeping... prolly not.

I'm gonna wait a few months before I get mine, but since they are local it will be hard to hesitate.

Guys $1100.00 for a friggin gain of 28hp at the wheels is a DEAL!!! I can't believe that gain with just a new exhaust. The JUN exhaust I put on my Type R cost me $1200.00 and it didn't come close to a gain like that by itself. I am going to spend a ton on my STI cause it will be my new project car. But i am not going to do that until next spring/summer cause i wanna enjoy this beauty stock for awhile. When spring comes around though i am gonna keep this awesome exhaust on the top of my list of things to try. Peace!!

V1 false laser warning in STi?

Yeah 28Whp from just an exhaust is amazing, though hard to believe.
Correct me if I am wrong, but dont the eclipse drivers get about that much from an exhaust? I have never owned a turbo, so its new to me. But from what I have read, on most turbo cars, removing cat, and putting the straight pipes make it way less restrictive hence the HP/TQ gains?

sounds like a deal to me.

I spent 1200 to get my '95 ///M3 from 240 bhp to 268 bhp. (oh, and what a difference that made, more pull, and what a great sound!)

is the kit in question going to be a huge hassle to install? I bet it will...

there is the rub...

maybe the ease of getting 28hp is a true testament of how detuned the car is. (yippee! another "hidden" perk of the sti.) i still think $1100 is dizzying; mostly because i just bought the car. after 3yr/36k, i'm sure i'll be ready to spend that.

Why wait 3yr/36? It's not like adding an aftermarket exhaust will void your warantee-that is illegal now. Is it just the money?

I know I'll have that exhaust on w/ in 1 week of owning the car. There is no way I can let $1000ish stand between me and another 28 eazy HP. Even if it means credit card debt! You only live once!!!
