Just checked, the turbo guage for the sti is exactly the same looking as the one that goes on the wrx. Only it mounts on the left hand side.

Does this look the same as the WRX boost gauge (besides being on the left vs right)

It is the same as WRXs boost gauge. Also all 04 WRXs have it mounted on the left side
