That pic of the black one with the black rims is damn nice looking. Black looks good on just about anything, but after owning one black daily driven vehicle... never again.
AMEN AMEN AMEN!!!!

Maybe when I have a sports cars shoved away that only comes out on weekends, but never again for a DD.

It depends on where you live. If you are like me and live in an extremely high-temp part of the country or live in an area that has real bad pollen seasons I would stay as far away from black as I could. I have had both colors (white and black) and although, in general, white tends to look like it needs washing more frequently, black vehicles just don't cut it around here. When pollen season comes your black vehicle constantly looks like it has been sprayed with bass-boat paint in a pollen yellow color, not to mention that you get to deal with extreme temps within your darker vehicle (don't forget that the interior is black no matter what color you pick). Just my thoughts...

As for me, I have decided to meet nature half way...with a blue one.

Black paint looks great but it's not so much keeping it clean as it is keeping the finish free of swirls and scratches.
no doubt. we've got a 2000 black outback wagon. i dunno what i'm doing wrong when i wash the car but if you're closer than 5ft, the swirls are so obvious. maybe i've just developed really bad technique; my previous car was white.

so what is the final story with the wheels? those pics showed the split-spoke gold wheels. (i "hate" those wheels.) which ones are we getting? impreza.subaru.com shows the nicer 10spoke bbs wheel.

It could be a couple things. Basically anytime you wipe anything on or off your finish it scratches. The thing to do is minimize that as much as possible. Only problem is with any dark colored vehicle it shows more than a lighter colored one. That is why over time it just keeps getting worse. Best thing you can do always hand wash and buff the scratches out or get a good wax and try to cover them up. Buffing is good when done once in a while, repeated buffing will take it's toll over time. You also have to be real careful not to burn through the paint or make it worse when buffing. Waxing is good for a temporary fix but after the first wash or two and the wax wears or washes off, the swirls will be back. I love a nice black colored car but after owning one, never again, especailly on something that will be driven daily and probably washed weekly. A good wax to use, that I use on my black Supra is Zaino Bros. It covers stuff up pretty good, makes swirls and light scratches real hard to see, kind of gives the paint a deep wet look. I don't drive my Supra everyday so it is realy easy to maintain. On my Red Legacy I use Klasse, which puts a pretty good acrylic type of coat on that seems to help protect from light scratches. It shines real good but does not seem to have the depth of Zaino. I am not sure what I will use on my STi, either Klass or Zaino. If you have the time to maintain it a black car can be kept looking good, you bascially would have to wax it after just about every wash though. People tried to warn me but until I actually owned and drove a black colored vehicle I did not really realize what a pain it really is.

Welcome

so is the majority of people here getting blue sti and 2nd choice would be a white sti? i would like to get a blue sti, but in my neighborhood and when i go hang out till late night, im afraid that blue attracts too much attention and it would be more prone to get stolen or something happen to it.
black looks nice as well, but its hard to constantly maintain the look, which leaves me with white, a color i like, but in my opinion only certain cars can look great in white, and im not sure sti can do it....so....... until i see the sti in person, im going to have a hard time making a color decision.
