Hi everybody. Just wondering if anybody read the review in this months top gear magazine. There was a "shootout" between the U.K. Sti and the Evo. Unfortunatly for us Sti lovers, the Evo seemed to outgun our beloved car. While North America is supposed to get the most highly tuned Sti, the Type U.K. is rated at 300 Hp and with the same amount of torque. I called Subaru of America, and they told me it is the same car we are getting minus a few emissions restrictions. Does anybody know anything about this? If we are getting the same car, it would be highly dissapointing to get a car that runs a 0-60 time of 5.3, which is only 1/10 of a second faster than a stock WRX. Please somebody tell me they read this article and infact ours will be much better.

if it were 5.3, i would be disappointed also. however, i don't think you/we have to worry. both c&d, mt, and automobile have all gotten sub 5sec times for our sti; between 4.6 and 4.8.

The UK STi they tested was equipped with the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP) to take it from the standard 261 to 300 hp. This is not the car the US is getting. The UK (and the rest of the world) gets a 2.0L engine, while the US is getting a 2.5L engine.

Not to worry! The US car is better than the UK car, and that's before Prodrive even touches it! (Prodrive parts will likely be available here, though, in case the stock 300 hp isn't enough for you.)
