Lucky you...

Though there are a TON of rumors going around, and supposedly Gen. Odierno is saying we'll all be home by Xmas...Our PLT. escorted him in our vehicle the other night, even though he didn't ride in MY vehicle.

As in EVERYONE? lol, I doubt it.

I'm a former soldier as well, deployed '06-'07 in Baghdad.

Re: 06 STI...Recaro baby seat pics added

After I re-enlist and pay ALL my bills, after that...I'll get my 3k. Priorities. I'mma get the rest of my engine setup first, sell the parts replaced ie, vf39, injectors etc then that money will go on the remaining funds from the 3k...then coilovers. I have a spreadsheet working everything out :)

green/orange = still need to get
red = already bought
blue/light blue = special terms/still need to install ($)

As you can see though, from the parts column, I'm $975 over the 3k benchmark. So that's why the coilovers have to wait until I sell some other pieces.

i love my wife. she worked on my car for the first time today. she took off the intake so we can sell it. she looks rough in this picture but she woke up maybe 30 minutes prior to working on the car. i told her to take better pics but she was already so frustrated from not knowing where the maf sensor was....the only thing on the intake lol

wtg babe, finally getting your hands dirty lol

Wow, I could never get my old girlfriend to do something like that. Mad props to your wife man.

I like the chart you got going on. I'm in search of a new intake, because of going FMIC my short ram won't fit. Did you say something about your current injen intake not working with something?

Have you put these parts up for sale on nasioc?

Only problem I see for u is ur cai and I injectors.
a.Since ur still using a maf it'll run like crap when u install a bigger one
b. Injectors-ull be running really rich but it should be okay u will def need to get a new set of plugs though... Before the tune.
c. Best option is get a local guy to load a base map for 850cc Inj an install the cai there. Or borrow a cobb ap2 and I got a base map somewhere for those injectors and big maf

hmmm, doesn't aps have a 73mm cai? just wondering since im going with the kstech 73mm instead of 83mm. so those would be my only faults, intake and injectors? why do you say i would need new spark plugs? you dont need to get tuned for them... i have never heard the issue anyway. i thought once someone marries an ap, then it wont work with another vehicle? i may have to ask gabe if he has a base map like this that he can open-souce me.

Re: 06 STI...budget build spreadsheet added

Fouling: Fouling occurs when a plug becomes contaminated with fuel, oil, or other contaminates that prevent the plug from generating a spark. Most plugs today are designed to reduce fouling and become self-cleaning when they reach 500 degrees Celsius. However, short trips, low speed driving, improper spark plug heat range (too cold), improper timing, or an oil leak in the combustion chamber can cause a spark plug to become fouled.

so if i don't sell the intake, keep it on there, dont change the injectors, then i could just drive up to kieth and have him install the injectors while i do the intake and that way he could tune the car and the gapping of the plugs. just found this:

Do I need a colder spark plugs? A rule of thumb is one heat range colder for every 75–100hp you increase. In identical spark plug types, the difference from one full heat range to the next is the ability to remove 70°C to 100°C from the combustion chamber. The heat range numbers used by spark plug manufacturers are not universal, so a 10 heat range in Champion is not the same as a 10 heat range in NGK or in Autolite. When making the decision to change the heat range of your plugs, it is a wise idea to make changes in 1 heat range increments, checking all your plugs for suitability during your test. Vehicle modifications during the test phase of your plugs is not recommended as this may skew your results.

THAT sounds like a viable reason to change.

Re: 06 STI...budget build spreadsheet added

Id go to the tuner without the intake and injectors installed. Will these be sidefeed injectors? If so it take like 5 min to change them and the intake is about 20min tops if its a cai that fits tight like the aps ones.

You can do that in the parking lot of your tuner. Then you dont need plugs unless you need them, or it wont foul you new ones if you install before the tune.

Re: 06 STI...budget build spreadsheet added

i personally dont know how to install injectors. i have researched on how to do them either...yet. but what u described just seemed like the more logical way to do things. and now that u say the injectors take 5 min? too easy, decision made. ill drop the intake from the for sale thread and just keep it for now. ive had 3-4 people ask for quotes but no buyers so ill just relist it after the tune.

about the plugs, thats what i was saying...idk why steve said i would NEED them. if it aint broke, dont fix it. like i said/copied in my other post, the hp difference would be the only reason to go colder, but wondering if i should BEFORE the tune just so later when i do more changes, ill be at max potential for them already.

strange behavior

so apparently my car is acting funny. my wife put my intake back on (well, someone else who knows how to work on cars did) cuz i was going to sell it but decided i needed it for the drive to the tuner and now the car makes a strange noise trying to start.

the battery is at 100%...after the car is on, the gauges are going ape **** and the car revs like she pressed on the gas.

she made a video to show me the behavior. she put a towel to plug the intake elbow and took it out, so no debri go in there. she said she double checked the clamps to make sure everything was tight. it sounds like an air/boost leak to me but im not there to see anything.
