This is the most reliable and believeable thing I have seen about the "facelift" the 2004 Impreza is supposed to recieve. Front End = GOOD, rear end = damn the altezzas!! :)

Although the bug-eye look has grown on me this "new" front end could also do the same. BUT please, please, please don't do that to the tail lights, I totally despise tail lights with the chrome surrounds.

One more thing, as long as the front end isn't butt ugly I don't care what it looks like as long as there are some HID's behind the clear plastic.

What's this about "a high-performance, Prodrive-designed special edition due next year"?

That actually does not look too bad. The new scoop design along with the "depressed" hood just above the grill could take a bit of getting used to.

My hardest decision for a new car now lies between an STi or the Infiniti G35 Coupe model.

That is assuming Subaru of Canada thinks we're worthy enough to get the STi. Otherwise my choice is clear.

Aren't those just RSX headlights cut and pasted on with the bottom cropped?? looks like they did the same for the rear by melding the wrx and rsx APC style taillights. The scoop looks like just a blown up close up of the existing scoop opening, besides is there really enough room under the hood to depress the front of it that way?? It sure doesn't seem like it on my wagon. I think if this were "real" it would have been done more tastefully, without the obvious "pasted on look".
Also just my input, I think if they go similar to this route they should stay away from the civic/rsx look, why leave the small piece between the lights and the grill? I think it'd look better with a full section rectangular light that extends to the grill. Triple projector beams anyone???

So the new updated version of the wrx will have that big wing and those wheels? I think it looks great :) , but the altezzas look-alikes are kind of tacky; they only look clean, imnsho, on the Altezza itself. Also the front end does kind of look more typical japanese sportscar-like now, so some people might mistake it for a Honda. :-?

And another thing: what happend to the fog lights????????

There are a few problems, aside from the similarity to another car, as super_bean21 mentioned (although I thought of an Elantra).

The scoop's edge on the right shows a discontinuity in the highlight, but there can bee no cusp since the profile on the left does not show it.

Someone did an amateur job of taking the colour out of the wheels. The even forgot to leave the colour ON the brembos.

There's an unexplainable highlight patch to the left of the scoop. There is no surface perturbation on the right that would explain the bright patch.

The highlighting on the headlight lens on the left does not match up with the hood/fender highlight. This would mean that the surfaces are not flush. Again, the lens on the right shows differently.

The skew routine of the photo program messed up the mesh of the front grill, for the left 1/4, to get the appearance of a sloped front end.

The lens on the left is not as tall as the one on the right. It would be bigger since it is closer.

The right half of the lens on the left has no reflection off of the top of the bumper.

Not the most believable, IMHO.

Word is that's not an actual pic, (was anyone fooled??).
The writer/editor has acknowledged it is 100% photocopped. We are looking at someone's interpertation as described by another person either within Subaru or a non-employee who has actually seen the faclifted car or final production pics.
BTW, assembly of the facelifted Impreza commenced a few weeks ago in Japan, customer deliveries are expected within days? of the Paris introduction.

I've heard that this is just a rendition of what editors have heard about insiders from Subaru to what the facelift will look like. There are other magazines that have done renditions that are very similar to this, with clear-tail lights and all.

OK, whydo people bitch about the BUG eyes.... thats what makes the car, even if it breaks it. a blind WRX just isnt a WRX without its eyes. imagine a "facelift" on a 65 beetle to get rid of the bug eyes.......

I am with you BuDDyLeE i like the Bug eyes. It makes it stand out from all the rest of the cars on the Highway. Just the other day i say one coming down the highway and i saw it from a long ways away and it looked bad ass.

The 22B does not have bug eyes.

Personally, I don't care one way, or the other. I just want a very high performance vehicle. The rest is just window dressing.
